Here my 2 cents so far.
Like someone mentioned earlier on this thread, this event is just a reskin of the Forge bowl one. Same mechanics, same strategy, similar prize. I get it that inno can't think of new ideas every time but cmon this comes out just a few months after the football. So my first thought - not really exciting.
Second, if we compare it to the Forge bowl event, this one is about a week longer and the so called 'Grand' prize is worse. 4x4 for 4fps vs 3x3 for 3 fps.
Third, i did not do the math myself but I trust those who already did because the results are almost similar. 5 upgrades obtainable from goals and 2 from quests. If they don't show up as daily special, only way to get them is by using diamonds. So again, worse than Forge bowl. And I'm still not excited.
With that said, I personally don't see a reason to struggle to get it maxed up.
Only nice reward as of now are those tiny cute houses which give 5% attack (sorry forgot the name). So if they don't get nerfed, I would bet at least half of the players would go for them.
Which is sad because once again the grand prize is not really grand

But I think for some the 15 goods would be appealing as well, I have run into a few folks now struggling for AF goods so if they get ToI in OF and find themselves later in VF struggling for OF like they are now for AF then that would be very helpful considering the size.

I know foe is a freemium game and probably bucketloads of diamonds are being bought by mobile users with rich parents who don't pay attention to how much their kids phonebill is. Yes you can pay in the play store by adding the charge to your phonebill. So they are competing with other (in my opionion senseless) point and click games and of course a lot of advertisements on social media for foe brings us a lot of players who try out this game maybe get to the bronze or iron age or just do an event and dissapear in the wind. Let's face it new customers are better because boy do these old customers complain about wanting the game better. Honestly you can do better and I'm a bit dissapointed even in the level of money grab in this event which is lower than football event: you could squeeze us out a lot more.
So to get to my second point the leaderboard: not over all players on the server. A division in players for example: no diamonds spend or lots of diamonds spent. There are different pools/different levels of the countries that are participating in the europe cup and world cup (comon a little bit of knowledge of soccer or even wikipedia or google) so there should be different divisions of players on the leaderboard. This segmentation of players, you have the tools to know whether or not diamonds are spent and bought, would benefit your marketing department a lot more when targeting players with advertisements then instead of paying out the wazoo to advertise on social media. Just saying a division in pay to win players and play to win players is possible.
I am not going to compete with someone who paid for 34 goals when free 7 or max 9 goals will do.

If you would install another point and click game just for research you would see that your competition has a lot more "wins" or immediate rewards to get the player hooked on the game.

You are almost starting the game, only have completed one Era of a game that has 17? and the game is still growing (new era "coming soon" Virtual Future). There are things that may be too complicated for players just beginning, even with the reduced demands at lower eras. Things will be more interesting when you unlock 2 or more military at Iron Age and also unlock PvP to have more battles to manage.
If it was a bug, after investigation reverse the FoY back to 3x3? Give Beta Tester a 3x2 WW as a special reward for discovering it, or to compensate for the loss of the very rare reduced FoY.

I think the prizes are good. Not totally awesome, but good enough for wanting to do the event for the prizes. The event it self is as many others have pointed out: a rerun of the American Football event. Which was an okay event. But 9 upgrades - yeah that brings it down for most of us.
I can appreciate the fact that those heavy diamond spenders get a more guaranteed prize than totally random crap that so many other events have given them. Also those of us that do the event get a little extra.
So then... with no upgrade as daily special...

Yes, there's another upgrade after the SoK. So I agree;
6 upgrades from goals, potentially if you spend diamonds, giving you a Level 7 ToI, no diamonds a level 5
2 upgrades from quest progress bar, ToI lvl 9, level 7 without diamonds spent
Leagues, I'm not so hopeful on getting Silver. It's at 4-6 now on Beta which has less players than live so I'm just not going to count on getting an upgrade from Leagues myself anyway, but we'll see. But if you get one then level 10 with diamonds spent, level 8 without diamonds spent.

Less players on beta, but it's a % division so that's not really a factor.
A lower fraction of players on live have diamonds to burn probably as they give us lots of free ones on beta. Of course on live there's also multiworld diamond miners but those players will be non-spenders on many worlds and spenders on 1... So that kinda balances... I have my doubts as to the viability of silver on live as well. I'll wait til closer to the end of the event to see where the divide is and if I can make it into silver using the same diamonds i need to get 2 more goals then it's an option. Even if it's doable I'll have to think about summer event and if i'd rather have the diamonds still for that.
I'm at 4 goals atm on beta - after the SoK is indeed 2 straight upgrades again. Still waiting to see if the 8th goal will be another non-upgrade. I'm sure the 9th will be an upgrade if the 8th isn't.
