Previous ages have had 2 research expansions, 2 map expansions and 2 diamond expanions. Considering how much the number of research expansions has lowered and how much harder it has been getting medal expansions, it appears as if the role of 2 diamond expandions per age is becoming more and more essential. I think they would otherwise keep it more balanced and give us more expansions, but they are worried about hitting the 10x10 town grid too soon and being forced to expand/recode whole town space, so last 3 ages they have been just cutting back on the number of expansions they give us so they could drag out till reaching 100 and win time. Well except diamond expansions, they keep that number stable so they wouldn't step on toes of diamond players who always expect to get their 2 diamond expansions per age.
