Aerial Future

I would like to give my suggestions pack for the Aerial Future. Since this theme
future is heavely requested by players towards the dev. team, to help them a little
bit and giving them an start point. It took me a while, but I'm glad to present it
to you.

Suggested area:
Very high mountains
Reason: since there is not an realistic way of having sky cities on our planet and this is
100% out of the question with the time limit up to 2050, I would like to suggest mountains,
since they are the closest thing to conquer when we try to become the master of the
skies. Since this is the closest thing of high altitude on our planet. In the high mountains
you may find an rare resource.

Suggested style: Steampunk
Steampunk is an futuristic style inspired by an altarnative time line. It's a post industrial theme,
where the industrial age involved into hightech. Often seen as an utopia an also often seen with
sky cities and impressive air crafts. How made man master of the skies.

Suggested storyline

Under spoiler; storyline is a bit long, so spoiler cut a bit scrolling.
While flying home the plane is caught by heavy weather. This forced the pilot to make an
emerency landing. Lucky everybody lived to tell the tale, but got stucked in high montains.
Terra Hunt calls for help, but the radio can't send anything; it's out of range. So the survivers
decide to getting to an higher place for better range. They are luck, because the bad
weather faided quickly away and they are able to send an emerency call.
The weather behavoir is very odd and it's catching the intrest of the sceintist. He would
love to send out an expedition. Your giving in, you send out a team to safe the people
from the unlucky plane anyways. The general wants you to send out some of his new
recruits. He sad they where designed to deal with a high altitude and this is where
they can becoming helpfull. He also finds it a nice way to test them at the same time.
Lucky enough you are quickly by the plane and the lost persons.


While the people are getting ready to leave, the scientists are proceeding into the montains.
Not long later they find the weather very strange and speculate that it's may caused artificial.
Weather control seems to be the most logical cause, but why?
During the exploration you encounter the locals. They wondering why you are so intressted
in the area. On the question about the weather, they answer calm. It's the thunderbird how
changing all of this. Thunderbirds are myths right? They claim that they know where to see
one. At first you think it is a bad joke, or some kind of believe. Till your expedition members
discover an strange flying creature and reporting that it can only been discriped as the locals
sad: an thunderbird. They explain that the radio's explouded due near impact of lightning
that caused an natural EMP. Slowing down their progress a lot. Can it realy be?
The research team is far ahead, to investicate the case. While you are sending out your
robotic eagles to scout the skies. Till all contact is lost and the research team doesn't return.
You must save the team and finding out what they saw.

Background information (spoilers included):
What the team and the locals saw was an robotic thunderbird, with a unknown owner.
Inspired by the sightings (following storyline) you develop your own thunderbirds. The
vultures and eagles where first developt. The eagles where made to spot the plane
and the vultures to giving quick first aid. Later in the thunderbird was developt inspired
by the sightnings.
In later episodes your exploring the montain area more. Where more sightnings of
mythical flying creatures can been find. However they are all robotic animails from
some one how is on an secret expedition for some new special resource. You're
developing inspired by this your own robotic flying creatures.

Harpy
latest
Farmers reports sightnings of strange humenoid flying creatures at stormy days. They snaping
their victims away, to never seen again. They are only known as harpies. This robotic coasons
of this fearfull creaters are now spoted on the battlefields. Cyborgs using high tech wings and
claws to fly fast and beat enemies are seen. They seem to provide from bad weather
conditions. Making them perfect to hunt the thunderbirds and making them a good
combination with friendly thunderbirds.

Harpies are not unknown for Inno, they also can been find in Grepolis as a unit, but in this game
a robotic version could be cool and realistic. We have afterall a group of robotic seamonsters...

Type: Fast

Very good against:
Range (thunderbird)
Artil (eagles)

Explenation:
This unit is good against thunderbirds, since they appear often in bad weather and using
this in their advantage, meaning that they are using the bad wheater sumoned by the thunderbird
against them.
This units are striking very fast. Eagles may overview the battle, but they are unable to react
fast enough against a suprisingly fast strike of the harpy.

Skills:
Favorable wind
When fighting with a thunderbird, gains 10% more att/def,
immune for skill thunderstorm.

Explenation:
They taking advantage of bad weatherconditons, by gliding good on the strong winds, outmanouvre
the most lightning strikes and strike in a surprise out of the cloudy hights. When they are supported
by a thunderbird on their side they will tetting stronger. Afterall units in an army working together.

Robotic Dragon

Ackording to legends, dragons ruled over montains. They protected many treasures and where
very hard to kill. In the west they are know as extremely destructive fearfull beasts, able to
destroy cities and terorize the area. As kings of montains they are powerfull guardians how
where enough reasons for treasure hunters to look for an easier and much safer treasure
to get.
Current day we brought the dragons back, as an robotic beast. To fight on our sight, to
protect our territory and our armies. Show our strenght.

Wappons:
Primairy wappon: powerfull plasma beams that will heavely damage any known material.
Secondary: an powerfull flamethrower for close combat.

Type: heavy unit
Range: 10

Good against:
Range (thunderbird)
Fast (harpy)

Explenation:
Tough weather conditions are not doing much against a mighty dragon.
The fast harpies are lacking in armor. The dragon is heavely armed and can fly quick to
outmanouvre the harpy and causing huge damage. Afterall they lacking in armor, but also
in strong wappons.

Skills:
Guardain

Raises defence of friendly units with 5%, affeact loses when died.

Reactive armor 3-4

Explenation skills: Guardain, this unit is like a large guardian and will stand between him and his
friends, giving them better possibilities for defending themself. This cause to raise theire defence.

Reactive armor, dragons are supposed to be hard to kill. The main reason is their strong armor.

(Dragon breath <- just maybe instead of guardian)

Robotic Thunderbird

Thunderbirds are loved and feared. They are in some cultures seen as an kind
of weather god and with good reasons. Locals pleasing the thunderbirds for
their favor. In order to spare their towns for the fury of storms and the anger
of this powerfull bird. While during draughts they ask the favor of the thunderbirds
to make an end of the draught with rain.

Type: Range unit

Very good against
Light (Vulture)
Artil. (eagles)

Explenation:
This unit will make the weather working against the ennemy. Making it extremely difficult
for supportive units to keep it up and supporting their armies. For longer distance attacks
are the strong and twisted winds very tricky and creating a natural defence.

Skills:
Thunderstorm

Ennemy units within the range of 4-5 tiles from this unit, are
weaken with 50%

Lightning strike

When attacking, may hit an unit within the range of 2-3 tiles
from this unit with 50% attack power.

Explenations:
Thunderstorm, the thunderbird controls weather and creates always and ennemies within
this storm are getting trouble fighting. Due limited vision and near impact of lightning. That
will cause EMP's how will cause (temporary) faillure of elek systems, making robotic units
extra weak while standing in this storm.

Lightning strike
During the event of an attack, this unit also sumon some random lightning as a side
effect. This lighting may hit foes how are to close.

Robotic Vulture

Vultures living from dead animails. This unit was original designed for scouting the savana
and providing first aid to wounded animails. With some customization we where able to
reprogram and hire this unit for war. This unit will heal itself by killing units and carring
repair kits for on the spot repair for friendly units. Making this unit an good fighter, but
also a good support for your armies.

Good against:
Heavy (dragon)
Fast (harpy)

Type: light

Explenation:
Not only is this unit a good suportive unit, it also outmanouvre the faster units and
more ausult unit like the dragon. With it's mighty attacks it can cause large damage
to dragons. Since it can outmanouvre harpies are harpies vulnerable for their
attacks.


Skills:
Stealth
Hides on rocks

First aid
When standing next to an friendly unit, will heal 1hp per turn of the
friendly unit.
[the per turn works the same as with poisen and is counted by the healing unit]

Explenation:

Stealth; this unit is more suportive and tries to hide for achieving this.

First aid, this unit original was designed to provide first aid. This is replaced with a repair kit,
allowing the unit to repair friends on the spot.


Eagle

The mighty eagle was designed to keep the watch on a high altitude. Often
seen in montains. This unit can see from a far clear. Meaning that stealth
tech. is pointless.

Type: artil.
Good against:
Heavy (dragons)
Light (vulture)

[explenation]
This unit can see a dragon coming from an far and will not go for a direct confrontation. Instead
it deals with the dragon from a safe distance.
This unit will spot the vulture easely and will deal with this beast from a safe distance, just like
it did with the dragon. Making it harder for them to support their armies.

Stealth spotter
Ignores stealth, causes spotted effect to units how using stealth for 1 turn. Spotted
units are vissible for all units and can been attacked from a distance.

[explenation]
This unit is a watch out and can see very well. It's developt to see through stealth and
warn it's friends for units that he spotted. By attacking them he ''marks'' them as spotted,
making it's friends able to strike. This skill is not a great advantage on it's own, but is
a good supportive skill that will be usefull for a more suportive unit class as artillery is,
making it very good for this type.

Harpy (fast) => good against dragon (heavy) and thunderbird (range)
Dragon (heavy) => good against thunderbird (range) and harpy (fast)
Thunderbird (range) => good against vulture (light) and eagle (artil)

i already suggested this as the "sky future" but moderators deleted the post, reason? for give an idea of a new kind of future.
about steam punk...no, actualy future, artic future, oceanic future have enough technology to keep improving everything, si much better a cyberpunk style. also , in oceanic future structures are already above of the ocean. (water arround the build) so "sky future" builds could have "clouds" as ground instead of water and streets or any kind of road can be for example "blue skye" or "sunset" sky.
and if you want another idea as a story, after the "sky future" may come a "post apocaliptic" future where each structure/building must look like a "fallout" game build re-structured with old technology. and why? because by a war or lack of resources most buildings lost the capability of stay floating above the clouds.

and after post apocaliptic future or "desertic future" the next era/age could be "underground future"? cause now the sun is so hot that nobody can live in the surface so people now must live in caves or under the ground and after that age? space future. where humanity developed enough techonology to explore the space looking for a new place to live. and after that age you found 3 kinds of alien civiliation and you must choose one with advantages and disadvantages and the choosed one will help to you developing some kinds of technology that let you build special and unic buildings related to the choosed alien civilization. so the whole view of your city must change acording to the civilization you choosed cause you cant live in the earth anymore so now your city is in a new planet thanks to that graphic change arround your city. and in order to keep moving in the tree of technology you must obtain some goods from the other 2 alien civilization.

Cyberpunk would be very intressting. A bit like Tomorrow. I'm thinking in a simelar way, this could
become very intressting. In my suggestion I was thinking of giving the illussion of high altitude with
buildings on rocks with a dark abyss arround it, but clouds are a fantastic idea.:) Also your idea
for the ways is great, I love it. Thanks for bringing in your ideas.:)
A bit a dark touch in a Fall Out theme sounds intressting, but a bit darker and more sad than the
dark cyberpunk themed tomorrow. Very intressting storyline. Especialy the idea of a cross age
storyline is very intressting. Hmmm a cave exploring age could also be intressting concept to
work with. Sinds we have underwater maps, so why not underground? Intressting touch for the
Space theme for making chooises and diffrent themes. I just posted a very large suggestion for
the Space theme.:) With diffrent layouts. At the end I also gave you credit for the concept of having
a customized layout, where you chooise your space program. However I based it off a upcoming
space race, yeah we are going to the moon and mars in the future, for real, no joke.

well, as i see you was able to understand my bad english. i thought most people weren't able to understand it but now thanks to you i have 1 less problem to worry about.

my original idea ( in the post i wrote andmoderators deleted ) were: oceanic future -> forest future (jungle future or whatever you want to name it) and because humanity depleted most part of the great jungles/forest in the world comes the desertic future, in desertic future, humanity (with the need of more water, food, oxygen ,etc ) focus all their technology to make giant flying structures or giant floating lands so theres come the sky future where humanity can use the water from the clouds for example to cultivate different kinds of trees in the giant flying/floating structures. and thanks to the hegith the heat that people can feel is less than they can feel in the earth/land. and after that era could be the post apocaliptic future where structures start falling down and humanity must build structures using old technology and there is where you can find buildings like in fallout games. and well.. you already know what may/could come after that era. sadly moderators deleted so fast so i wasnt able to have any feedback from any player.

I like this idea very much and great job for the effort and thought that you put into this!

On a side note, I do feel like this is a bit of a step backwards. This doesn't feel very "futuristic" to me.. Considering that they are doing Space Ages, I don't see how this would be in line with city's development. HOWEVER, if they did something dystopian, like a societal collapse and then reconstruction, THEN I see how this would fit in! And I'm all for it, cause let's admit it, I don't think many people want to see endless amount of space ages....

On a side note, I do feel like this is a bit of a step backwards.
  • Agreed, steam engines are more than a bit backwards compared to actual technology or the "futures" we have seen in FOE.
  • But, starting with some of the concepts that drakenridder proposed, and modifying what energy source would allow a city to be "aerial" can definitely be futuristic.
HOWEVER, if they did something dystopian, like a societal collapse and then reconstruction, THEN I see how this would fit in! And I'm all for it,

I would favor a societal collapse and then reconstruction that would take two or three eras max to bring society back to the state before whatever cataclysm set the dystopian period to happen.

by the sightnings.
In later episodes your exploring the montain area more. Where more sightnings of
mythical flying creatures can been find. However they are all robotic animails from
some one how is on an secret expedition for some new special resource. You're
developing inspired by this your own robotic flying creatures.

their victims away, to never seen again. They are only known as harpies. This robotic coasons
of this fearfull creaters are now spoted on the battlefields. Cyborgs using high tech wings and
claws to fly fast and beat enemies are seen. They seem to provide from bad weather
conditions. Making them perfect to hunt the thunderbirds and making them a good
combination with friendly thunderbirds.

Harpies are not unknown for Inno, they also can been find in Grepolis as a unit, but in this game
a robotic version could be cool and realistic. We have afterall a group of robotic seamonsters...

Type: Fast

Very good against:
Range (thunderbird)
Artil (eagles)

Explenation:
This unit is good against thunderbirds, since they appear often in bad weather and using
this in their advantage, meaning that they are using the bad wheater sumoned by the thunderbird
against them.
This units are striking very fast. Eagles may overview the battle, but they are unable to react
fast enough against a suprisingly fast strike of the harpy.

Skills:
Favorable wind
When fighting with a thunderbird, gains 10% more att/def,
immune for skill thunderstorm.

Explenation:
They taking advantage of bad weatherconditons, by gliding good on the strong winds, outmanouvre
the most lightning strikes and strike in a surprise out of the cloudy hights. When they are supported
by a thunderbird on their side they will tetting stronger. Afterall units in an army working together.

Ackording to legends, dragons ruled over montains. They protected many treasures and where
very hard to kill. In the west they are know as extremely destructive fearfull beasts, able to
destroy cities and terorize the area. As kings of montains they are powerfull guardians how
where enough reasons for treasure hunters to look for an easier and much safer treasure
to get.
Current day we brought the dragons back, as an robotic beast. To fight on our sight, to
protect our territory and our armies. Show our strenght.

Explenation:
Tough weather conditions are not doing much against a mighty dragon.
The fast harpies are lacking in armor. The dragon is heavely armed and can fly quick to
outmanouvre the harpy and causing huge damage. Afterall they lacking in armor, but also
in strong wappons.

of weather god and with good reasons. Locals pleasing the thunderbirds for
their favor. In order to spare their towns for the fury of storms and the anger
of this powerfull bird. While during draughts they ask the favor of the thunderbirds
to make an end of the draught with rain.

Explenation:
This unit will make the weather working against the ennemy. Making it extremely difficult
for supportive units to keep it up and supporting their armies. For longer distance attacks
are the strong and twisted winds very tricky and creating a natural defence.

During the event of an attack, this unit also sumon some random lightning as a side
effect. This lighting may hit foes how are to close.

reprogram and hire this unit for war. This unit will heal itself by killing units and carring
repair kits for on the spot repair for friendly units. Making this unit an good fighter, but
also a good support for your armies.

Explenation:
Not only is this unit a good suportive unit, it also outmanouvre the faster units and
more ausult unit like the dragon. With it's mighty attacks it can cause large damage
to dragons. Since it can outmanouvre harpies are harpies vulnerable for their
attacks.

First aid
When standing next to an friendly unit, will heal 1hp per turn of the
friendly unit.
[the per turn works the same as with poisen and is counted by the healing unit]

Explenation:

Stealth; this unit is more suportive and tries to hide for achieving this.

First aid, this unit original was designed to provide first aid. This is replaced with a repair kit,
allowing the unit to repair friends on the spot.

seen in montains. This unit can see from a far clear. Meaning that stealth
tech. is pointless.

[explenation]
This unit can see a dragon coming from an far and will not go for a direct confrontation. Instead
it deals with the dragon from a safe distance.
This unit will spot the vulture easely and will deal with this beast from a safe distance, just like
it did with the dragon. Making it harder for them to support their armies.

Stealth spotter
Ignores stealth, causes spotted effect to units how using stealth for 1 turn. Spotted
units are vissible for all units and can been attacked from a distance.

[explenation]
This unit is a watch out and can see very well. It's developt to see through stealth and
warn it's friends for units that he spotted. By attacking them he ''marks'' them as spotted,
making it's friends able to strike. This skill is not a great advantage on it's own, but is
a good supportive skill that will be usefull for a more suportive unit class as artillery is,
making it very good for this type.

Hi guys I wanted to said so many thanks to all your support of this suggestion recently.:) This
suggestion was made in the time where AF and OF where relleased and the future era's appeared
to be kinda DLCs of theme futures.
I'm afraid that the current aim of the game remains in space ages. However an step back from
space could indeed be nice. If they remain in space. This suggestion can be confirted for some type
of mission to Venus. I know it sounds grazy but just doing a bit of ressearch of colonizing Venus and
you will understand. As Venus is the perfect planet for real sky cities and tbh only sky cities are
realistic and practical possible to achieve on Venus for establishing an colony or permament base
on such a hostile planet.

Totally useless suggestion. Players never had any influence on upcomming era's.

I don't agree.

I have seen suggestions by players being incorporated in the game impacting elements of an era like Theme, Techs, Units, Buildings, Great Buildings, etc. As a matter of fact players suggested going to space long before the current Space Age Mars. Initial feedback were against going into space, but hey, they did paid attention.
