Feedback Space Age Asteroid Belt (SAAB)

Glad to hear the units got buffed. However, is it enough to make up for the significant drop in attack range? I'm not sure if it is. After all, Hover Tanks remained viable against units far stronger than them in terms of stats, due to having mobility and range along with a pair of powerful abilities. SAAB units don't really have these things, so it sounds like they'll be cannon fodder no matter how high their stats are.

how is initiative calculated, in each order they will attack?

Yeah, it's just trial and error, pairing units with known initiative values with them to see where the new units end up placing. I've asked Inno in the past about making this value visible to players in-game but was told there aren't any plans to do so, so this is what we're stuck with doing.

I keep track of what every unit's actual initiative value is and put them in a list, but since I don't have the time to play all the way up to the end of the tech tree here on beta I can't test the units myself until they make it to the live servers.

A guildmate, UnStopaBull, asked me to post this:

Hello Beta Forum,

I am not a beta tester but follow the beta forums pretty closely and understand well what the new SAAB offers atm. I asked Genco to post this so I could express my concern for the lack of the Unbirthday Quest at the moment in SAAB. This needs to be addressed because for me , Level 100 StM, RaH and LoA, I have saved up (like many others) a lot of Gold and Supplies in anticipation of the new Era release. Just like Mars Ore, many players prepare for new era releases and should not be punished for this.

Without an UBQ, those that leveled these GBs high have lost a huge benefit (gold/supplies) as well as the event buildings (gold/supplies) won with $ and effort. I expect the tech tree and other required purchases to complete SaaB will be expensive, but I have saved and can make such a large amount of gold / supplies that this won’t make a dent in what I’ve saved. I could use gold to buy FPs , and I certainly will do so, but my cost of FPS is already 2million for 1FP and it doesnt address what a top player will do with all their excess/saved supplies.

I have always tried to move to the current eras and get through them as fast as possible. I like completing things and have the most land available. This Lack of UBQ , as well as a few other things mentioned in this thread, has made me question if I will move up. New eras should bring excitement to the players yet this has brought much frustration to many players. Please reconsider and put UBQ or similar back in the recurring rotation ..make it really expensive if need be , but bring back the one quest that allows us to use the excess gold /supplies many people have worked so hard to acquire.

The SAAB units can be made much more interesting by moving the special skills around a bit. It's also a bit boring that all units now have to have Keen Eye...

Drill Ranger: Remove Contact! and Keen Eye and give it Close Quarters and Stealth.
Hover Hammer: Remove Keen Eye and give it Frenzy and Rapid Deployment.
Shredder: Remove Close Quarters and Keen Eye and give it Blast and Reactive Armor.
B.E.L.T.: Remove Blast and Keen Eye and give it Power Shot and Heat.
Nail Storm: Remove Keen Eye and give it Dug-In.

Or come up with some new special abilites like Self-Repair: chance to heal X damage every turn, Cheat Death: X chance to evade killing blow (only once per turn), Burrow: Digs into the ground after moving and receives X% less damage... please make it more interesting, right now Nail Storm is going to be the only unit used in SAAB.

I think an ability where you gain health by dealing damage would be interesting.

@Hippocrates 6 the Hard I don't see this new 'all units have a chance to deal double damage' trend going away. It keeps things 'interesting' by making battles a little bit more unpredictable (and painful) by giving enemy units a chance to hit your troops really hard even with a large difference in boost. This also means units kind of only get one ability now, but I think Inno's fine with that too. Just gonna have to live with it.

Also gotta comment that I don't think Power Shot's ever going to make another appearance. Rail Guns were powerful enough with it, even with their Reload limitation. No way they're going to put it on anything else, especially a unit that can attack every turn!

i will wait with going into SAAB, until we get some real units
i like to fight in GBG, and GE (on Beta, on live i'm not that far)

there are plenty of good suggetions for them, and they will be not overpowered
but please do something, more damage does not fix the problem of those boring units

maybe i even wait until you release another era, because right now there is no good reason to jump

OK give the new hovers more range so they can attack straight away.
Give the new arty more speed and mortar.
Give all the new units either more range of shot or more movement.
Simple isnt it.
Then you would make this new era worth doing.

After the buff of all SAAB units, the Shredder is needed to be very effective counter vs Nail Storms. Shredder must have the highest initiative value of all heavy units in the game, also it must have higher initiative than Nail Storms. Drill Ranger is the most stupidly going to deal a lot of damage because of drills and stupid Contact! skill, it works very stupidly and very similary to Augmented Samurai. The Drill Ranger is the worst SAAB unit currently, while the best SAAB unit is the Nail Storm. The Belt's special skill is needed to replace from Blast to Heat. Nail Storm must have higher initiative than B.E.L.T., the Drill Ranger must have the lowest initiative of all SAAB units. The second-highest initiative must have Shredders and SAAB Champions, they must act before Nail Storms. The highest initiative of all SAAB units is the most likely Hover Hammer. They must have additional changes for all SAAB units. Please tell me realistic how much initiative have these SAAB units?

I don't like the newest changes.

Where is the punishment for the lazy Mars players now. Instead players like me get punished with lower goods outcome from the colony.
That makes no sense in a strategy game like this one.

Thats the players own fault to not follow one of Innos golden rules.
If you have any chance to gether an advantage obout other players just do it
Then the day will always come if you an say. Good that i do that what i did.

I don*t think its a good way to give lazy players a present like this. Now they think ok cool i still can play trash as fu.. and if it goes wrong i make some MIMIMIMIMI and inno helps us.

On the other hand there is still no change to the old reccuring quests.
Which are crucial for high end players to build a solid base and can still growing

All what we did in our cities was with reasons.
And the reason was not to be haveing fun. It was to be effectiv so much if it possible.
For example to bring a arc to level 180 is everything except FUN.

So now all what i want from you inno is clear INFORMATION wheres the game going.
At the moment it seems for me you will only help this *FULL NOOBS* with no SKILL and no IDEAS how to play the game effectiv.

And players on my level gets handle like TRASH from you.
Restriction on GG with that stup.. overpropornational attrition
restriction on GB like relict temple or arc
restriction nowdays with that reccuring quests
No new content for high-end gamers, still waits for a GE 5 & 6 but it will never comes because, you only listen to the Mimimi of this NOOBS.

for me a noob is a player who ignores parts of the game

like using the colony

interesting

so players without a level 180 have more fun playing the game than you o_O

Instead of following the echo chamber, I would like to said that the best part of the adjustments are the increased production of Mars ore to a somewhat sufficient level. As for the units, others explained already well while increasing base stats are fine, it isn’t gonna do a lot aslong range isn’t there and skills ain’t helping out either

Gonna move up later to SAAB, whenever I’m ready for it. Pretty sad still that it wasn’t as well designed as SAM. As I did like moving up and going through SAM. Really hoping that Venus will give me an simpeler experience as SAM. The concept and ideas shown in SAAB is still the best part of that space age

This. I am almost to the point where I want to level my SMB, RAH and LoA from level 10 to level 70 and my Chat from level 70 and beyond. if you are going to get rid of the UBQ and fnord going forward, then this eliminates those plans. and I may delete some of those buldings when it comes time to move up to this age, You have completly nerfed several Long-standing GBs

I really dont like the SAAB units, they feel like the ranges, movement and the special skills arel mismatched. I'll cross my fingers and hope that they'll be revisited but if not no worries, i'll keep my live cities in SAM
