Dear Kings and Queens,

Thank you for your valuable feedback so far.
We would like to inform you that with the upcoming daily update (September 4th) we will be removing the “trade quest” from the ongoing Fall Event. Just for clarity, this is the part of the event that we have in mind:

The trading was a 2:1 kind of transaction, which means that it was NOT generally beneficial to trade. This was intended as a kind of “last resort” style option, when you’re out of all other resources near the end of the event, for example. It was not intended for frequent use.

It appears that this feature was rather confusing to many players, resulting in many unintended and undesirable transactions. Via support tickets from confused/annoyed players, and also discussion here in the public forum, we were able to observe the following issues, in order of severity:

  • The “trader quest” was not presented differently enough from other quests, resulting in many players simply clicking the button which is typically used for the “pay”-type quests, unintentionally trading away many of their ingredients.

  • Getting and using the selection kit was also not clear enough, and not everyone knew that to actually make any use of it, one has to go to inventory and use it from there.

  • The “trader quest” inconveniently up space in the Quest Overview and was also making it a bit more difficult to understand what was going on with the actual Fall Event questlines.
Knowing that especially the first issue would have a great impact on the community when released live, we have decided to take this functionality out of the event. We’re OK with doing this because we’ve also discovered while play testing this final state of the event that the trader is not needed in the way we expected it to be when originally designing the event.

We might be revisiting this topic in the future, if we have another event with multiple resources. However, we would then of course try from a different angle and in a far less confusing way.

Thank you for your feedback and testing!

Yours,
The Forge of Empires Team – Team Beta
