Looks like the Modern Era is really close now
I hope that there will also be some more variety to the aviable units, like multiple unit types, for example:
Light
Rifleman
Machinegun team
Sniper
Heavy
Armored Transport
Light Tank
Heavy Tank
Fast
Aircraft Fighter
Aircraft Bomber
Ranged
Tank Destroyer
Anti-Aircraft Vehicle
Artillery
Mortar Team
Howitzer
And most of all, I really really hope that we will finally get some
real tanks, no more swords, spears or ordinary rifle ammunition that may damage tanks. Only armor-piercing rounds or explosive projectiles should be able to damage tanks
To sum it up, the best would be if all units just followed the rules of realism. For instance:
- Aircrafts are immune to everything except units with AA-capabilities.
- Snipers are hidden in forests or buildings if no enemy units are within 2 squares. The oponent may therefore not see them, but if the oponent tries to place a unit in the square containing the hidden sniper, that unit will get ambushed by the sniper.
- Tanks are immune to everything that does not fire armor-piercing rounds or explosive projectiles. An armored transport, which fires explosive projectiles may therefore damage it slightly, while an aircraft with bombs or a tank destroyer will damage it very much.
- Artillery will no longer be able to target an enemy but instead target an area of 7 squares. It will then hit in 1 random of those 7 sqaures. 1 hit means 1 kill. Howitzers reach across the entire map, while mortars have about twice the range that light units move in 1 turn.
- Forests and other hideouts like buildings on the battlefield should be destroyable by artillery or aircraft bombers.
