Rejected Allow Guild Leaders and thread admins to set individual players to read-only in guild chat and threads

Reason
Some players may be generally good guild members or members of a community thread, but may have life situations that cause them to act erratically. Giving guild leaders and thread admins the ability to temporarily silence these individuals without kicking them from the guild or the thread can help keep the peace within that community without the drastic step of removing the player from the guild or the thread. In other cases, guilds or admins may have reasons for some players to speak while the rest remain silent.
Details
In threads add another tick box under thread administration that allows the admin to mark players "read only". In the Guild Tab add an administration screen similar to that in regular threads with the read only tick box.
Balance
No change to balance expected.
Abuse Prevention
No abuse possible. If a player doesn't like being silenced they can leave on their own.
Summary
Giving more power to guild leaders and thread admins to curate who can speak in threads will enhance the message center and help with management of players within threads.
Have you looked to see if this has already been suggested?
Yes
Empower guild leaders and thread admins by adding settings to the guild chat and individual threads to mark individual members of threads/guild members as read-only.

You are asking for the power to censor a player for something that they might say? Hmm.
I can think of situations where that might be necessary for diplomatic reasons - if a player needs to be aware of what is happening in a shared GBG thread, for instance, but there is a possibility that player might cause a diplomatic incident.

Another use of this tool would be if guild leadership wanted to assign members without leadership roles to post announcements to the guild. They could give the requisite members the ability to post and set everyone else to read-only. For example, a GBG focus thread. The GBG callers could all be given rights to post while everyone else would be set to read-only.

Hard "no" on this. No player should be denied the opportunity to reply simply because some other player feels that they might cause an incident. The key word here is "might".

This is entirely different from what you first suggested. Creating a type of guild message that is "read only" for all but designated leaders could be useful. It does not single out any individual.

I think the general idea of more control over threads is good. The ability to setup some threads in which only some of the members can talk while the others can listen only, would be handy in some scenarios:
  • There is a guild thread in which leaders should be able to put messages in, but not the others, keeping important messages up. This one can be done with the current system already, but very workaround-ish (unlock the thread, quickly type the message / CTRL-C+CTRL-V, then lock it back).
  • In a non-guild thread, let's say 2 guilds work together, but only some of the players should have the right to talk, the others only listen. This way information can be shared but less messy if you have talkative people :p.
  • etc.
Not saying this feature is crucial to have, but think it would be a QoL feature for sure. I assume it wouldn't require that much time to implement, since the UI is kinda "ready" for it (you can already give admin rights to members, now it would be just a "can talk" right).

Think the big downvote count might be because of the way you presented your idea .
