Once a player reaches the end of the tech tree, the game stagnates the city of an high-end player is already full with hardly no more room to keep building new things won from GE and events so leveling up the Arc is one of the few really useful things a high-end player has left to do.
In all my live accounts (even here) my city is attacked a few times a month. This shows that one of the main feature this game had when released on 2012, the PvP, (player versus player) is dead for a big segment of players. Nowadays, the game itself doesnt encourage to keep attacking neighbours so whats the point of spending time attacking neightbours all week long just to win a PvP tower and get a bunch of medals as reward when you can get more medals just by donating FP on GBs? anyway, if you still are interested on being the PvP winner and catch some medals you dont need attack your neighbours either, so you have a faster way, just go to a GvG map and farm PvP points using autobattle as long as you are willing to suffer the GvG issues
I see the game basically has turned into a big rush to level the Arc to an infinite level, nothing else. Obviously, all the above mentioned does not apply to beginners and lower era players
Releasing more or less events or improving the questlines is a very small part of the whole game. A game needs always innovation, new ideas and new concepts. But creating a new content, event or theme by copy&paste from an existing one doesnt mean innovation. The Oceanic Future harbour and orichalcum special good is the best example of this bcos both are just a copy&paste from Artic Harbour and Artic age special good called promethium.
