New Idea Yearly Leaderboard

WillTreaty2

Farmer
Reason
For newer players, you know that no matter how hard you try, you will never catch up to those sitting at the very top of the ranking system, even though many of them are inactive or only semi-active. Which is okay, that is how it should be. But if there was a second leaderboard that resets every year and is based only off of performance that year, then this would allow you to see how you are performing against other players on a year to year basis.
Details
There would be a second leaderboard/ranking system that resets every year, so every player would start again from 0 and build up based off of their performance that year (fights, donations, city value, etc.)
Balance
This will have no impact on other game features other than for players to have a way to track their standings vs other players of their year.
Abuse Prevention
Unless I'm missing something, this is just a fun way to compare your performance among the other players on a year to year basis. I am not sure how one could abuse it in a way that is unfair to others.
Summary
By having a way of tracking a players activity on a yearly basis, this could also be helpful for recruiting guilds or friend lists to see at a glance who the most active players are.
Have you looked to see if this has already been suggested?
Yes, I did not see this suggestion anywhere.
A second leaderboard/ranking system that resets every year.

So, a 2nd leaderboard or a filter. With the "all time" score and "1 year" score counting from January 1st 00.00h server time of the current (server) year. Only strong bias might occur through levelling high level GB's and substantial goods donations to the guild. That been said it is intriguing and easy enough. Since guilds ranking changes each GbG season (4-5x annually) why not for the players?

A year is too long, plus most noobs don't last that long anyway. A month would be cool, or top players for each season of gbg, gex, qi.

Something like, but not just your guild the top 5-10 in the world, maybe it updates every 24 hours.

You are missing something. The way the ranking system works. New(er) players will still not be able to catch up. It will only be a competition between established players, or players that will abuse it.

I agree. A well established SAT city can add 5MM+ ranking points per day. Early era cities can't match this.

Not just that. I am willing to bet there will be players that will put their eintire city in inventory just before recalc and rebuild it after that.

But would ANYONE want to do that considering the amount of FP needed, the number of goods, the age of goods, etc. to get those great buildings back up just for that week?
I doubt this. It could require hundreds of store building items and wouldn't include GBs
You're telling me. I have like around 4 or 5 of those nightmare buildings that give out fragments of SBs.
But what can happen should be considered as a possibility.
I rather not see that knowing how Inno runs things these days.

I have hundreds so others will as well and you do not have to store all buildings. Just the ones that give a lot of points. Nobody can store GB's, but I can store and replace a Titan Gold Award and gain 5.200.000 points in a second. Can a new(er) player do the same?

Personally, I wouldn't waste a store building unit just to spam ranking points for a meaningless "most improved" ranking.

Which is why I mentioned that your city automatically counts towards your points total at the start of each year. Points earned through donating goods and battles would reset, but your city value wouldn't. So obviously, the long term player still has an advantage because of a more developed city, but if you're more active in donating and fighting, you would have a realistic chance of counter balancing that over time. (Key idea is you have to be more active than the long term player to pass them, but it can happen) How many players on the leaderboard now haven't played in over a year, and yet are still way beyond where I might ever be, because of how long they have been playing the game. So my idea, is basically a way of ranking active players and weeding out those who aren't as active or aren't playing anymore.

Neither would I, but there are players that will. There are players that pay or cheat for that ranking, which makes every ranking meaningless. GBG ranking is a good example.

Where did you mention that? Not that it matters, cause I can reset my city value myself.

You will not pass the long term player by being more active. Even less active they will produce way more goods and fightpoints than you. You will only pass players that have gone inactive and over time that is something you will do anyhow. Not that it matters in any way.
