Welcome Event

The Welcome Event did not exist when I started playing. I encountered it this year when I started a Beta world and again a few days ago with a new Live world.

Would like to get some history:

Did this run through Beta 1st?
Have you played it on Live?
Why is the Beta world version so different from Live?
Is it a "feature" Inno is open to suggestions for?

It was an unannounced addition, on either beta or live - early age modifications often are as there's not many people in place to test it on the forums (they're already past that point). As such I don't know if it was on beta first. It's been there for years now though.

I have played it on live on new servers - when it was a new addition it was a good intro to events. These days, it's more of an obstacle than anything as you cannot play the real event going on until you're done the welcome event. And the welcome event's prizes have little longevity.

If the beta version is "so different" from live, I'd hope it's an update to make it something that's viewed as added value again (i.e. more recent prizes) instead of an obstacle.

One outstanding difference was that you could complete the Welcome Event early on Beta as the quests continued until they ran out. I was able to join a main event, in progress, for the last few days. Not possible on Live today as there are a bunch and then are throttled at 1/day just like regular events.

The drops of "Event Selection Kits" were more frequent - enough so that it was possible to place four, fully leveled buildings that were decent and did not need Platinum or ascended to be worth planting in the city. 6 months later I still have 2 in the city. Said buildings gave goods, FPs and battle stats - assets in a baby city. In contrast, today, 1 event building w/o stats and some goods & FP and a 2nd that gives frags for battle potions and an upgrade kit. Both of those are older than the ones obtained on Beta. Goods and FPs came in dribbles.
$$ Offers were plentiful but in fairness those aren't offered on Beta (or I overlooked them? :D )
