Get Spring Lanterns from quests. Use them to get fantastic prizes - including brand new buildings with set bonuses!
Welcome to the Cherry Blossom Festival! Let's celebrate it as this year's Spring Event . When the cherry trees bloom, everyone gathers at the parks and celebrates!
The Lanterns can be traded for chests. Click the event button to open the event window:
As you can see, the window consists of several elements:
1. Spring Lantern counter. This shows how many Lanterns you currently have. The main way to get Lanterns are the Spring quests, but you can also buy more Lanterns for Diamonds here.
2. Chests. There are three of them: bronze, silver and gold. Each of them contains different rewards and you have to pay with Lanterns to get one of them! Hover over the chest of your choice to see what prizes are available for you to win. To see what a more detailed description of each prize, click the '?' icon. Among the rewards you will find not only Diamonds and buildings from the previous events, but also a few new items! More about them below .
3. Daily Special. This is a particularly valuable reward. It's available in every chest and changes every day. The chances of getting the Daily Special differ from chest to chest.
4. The Grand Prize. Every time you open a chest you will also get cherry blossoms which fill up the Grand Prize progress bar. Once this is completely filled up you will get the Grand Prize. You can get the Grand Prize multiple times, as the bar will reset when you reach the goal.
Let's talk about the buildings first . There are six brand new Spring buildings, all of them themed after the Japanese Cherry Blossom festival:
Gong of Wisdom Random-producing building - 1x1 |
Sakura Rock Decoration - 3x2 |
Nishikigoi Pond Decoration - 3x2 |
Zen Zone Residential building - 2x3 |
Emperor's Entrance Residential building - 2x3 |
Pagoda Residential/Culture - 4x4 |
As a matter of fact, if you group them together (except for Pagoda, which is a standalone building) you will get certain bonuses!*
That's because all the five buildings visible above have a "Set" building skill. When a building with set bonus is built right next to another (different) building from that specific set, it gets a bonus. For example: Zen Zone normally produces only coins, but when it touches other buildings from the Spring Set it will:
1. Produce additional supplies (when touching at least one).
2. Produce additional goods (when touching at least two unique buildings).
3. Produce additional medals (when touching at least three unique buildings).
The bonuses add up, so when touching two other buildings, you get bonus for both 1 and 2. Detailed amounts will be shown in tooltips, when hovering over the new buildings.
We hope you will like this new twist to the city development mechanics .
*While on Beta, the bonuses will not be visible on mobile devices.
As you remember, not long ago we introduced a boost overview. It will now become more useful, as we also introduce boost items that you can activate at the time of your choice!
Among all the rewards that were previously mentioned you will be able to get Boost Crates:
Each Boost Crate represents a random boost item you will get when you open it. There are 4 different kinds of boosts:
Once you've opened a crate in your inventory, it will transform into one of the boosts listed above (randomly chosen).
Each of the boosts exists in three sizes (small, medium and large). This is represented by the size of a bottle. For example, these are defense boosts in all three sizes:
Then you can use them at your convenience, they will stay in your inventory for as long as you wish. Effects from the boosts can add up - except for the attack boost - so you can use multiple boosts at once.
The boosts' effects will be of course visible in the boosts overview, which was built with these new boosts in mind.
This year we would also like to introduce a new mechanic for quests. In all events to this day, we were using a either daily triggered quests (typically one quest triggering every day) or directly available quests (that is all quests available immediately). This time we have both .
There are 25 quests that you can do right away and that is the main questline of the event:
Completing them will grant you the final rewards of the questline (which will be two Japanese-themed portraits and and a Gong of Wisdom building).
We however believe that it's a good idea to give you an additional chance of getting more Lanterns. That's why, once you've completed the questline, a daily-triggered mechanic will kick in. You will then get a new quest every day until the last day of the event. As there is a quest for every single day starting on day one (they are just invisible while you handle the main questline), you will probably have a few of them stacked when you get to them.
And that is not all! You will be getting 10 Lanterns per day from the town hall, but on top of that, you will also be able to find some Lanterns hanging from the cherry trees in the wilderness surrounding your city:
The amount of Lanterns you will get from each tree is random and ranges from 1 to 10 (naturally, you have to be lucky to get 10!).
We hope that this mix will work out well and give you many chances to get valuable Spring Lanterns!
If you think we can improve something, make sure to leave your comments and thoughts here. We'll be reading!
Happy Spring!
