Smart or a little too smart ? GvG Question

On the Iron age map we have encountered a Guild with a (too ?) smart approach to defense.

The Guild - lets just call it S creates a group of several 1 or 2 man guilds (offspring guilds) and relinquishes one sector to each guild. Since each "offspring guild" only posses one sector they get the HQ defense bonus for each sector.

So now S has its border protected by its "offspring guilds" - each taking full advantage of the HQ defense bonus. It can even rotate members between S and the "offspring guilds" to ensure ensure that resources, fresh troops and materials gets delivered to the "offspring guilds".

Smart or too smart ? What do you all think ?

In my humble oppinion this tactic is not in the spirit of the game, mainly caused by the abuse of leaving and joining a guild continuosly without any kind of penalty

That's called cheating!! I know there was a message this morning trying to combat this,
but far stronger approach is needed!..

Sadly, it's the same people who pulled the naming stuff, who named the buffer sectors with names similar to guilds around them.

But not the same issue.
And it needs to be stopped.

It does indeed want to be stopped. Let's all be grateful to the perps for bringing this bad strategy out in the open before GvG reaches the regular servers.

imho to solve this problem, first of all, the current system for merging 'hoods must be revised in order to avoid the coincidence of too many guild mates in the same hood, after that, there would no need to leave and join a guild over and over. Once this issue was solved, then it would be necessary to establish some kind of waiting time during which a player cannot leave or be kicked from a guild. The continuos transfer of players between these guilds (to convert regular sectors into HQ sectors) it would already be quite ineffective.

As this is a test server, you cannot blame people for testing out different things and strategies. I think we should be grateful that these people even thought of these possibilities, so that the developers can figure out how to solve this before it gets deployed to our home servers...

Why so many loosers that can't even have imagination to be creative and use all LEGAL! and NOT PROHIBITED! instruments of the game always just complaining instead of using the grey substance called brain? ))) The war is not only dumb using of bugs of the test server to provoke it artificially but also strategy and planning and creativity! Go ahead and create something interesting that we can also copy! This is what we could be grateful as all bugs will be fixed before final implementation on our home servers but the lack of your brains will not be fixed and those creative people from your home servers who will use their brains surely will lead your home worlds but not such narrow minded moaners.

PS Cheating means using of bugs and that is what you always do. We have never used bugs! We always use our brains. ))

With all my disregard,

Because my brain said it was wrong and cheating, but it was worth mentioning in the feedback thread which I did.

So what? We did the same when we were among the first who suffered from it. And Support answered us that this was "normal cause of events". So if it was "normal cause of events" why not to use it fo us?

As you see we did not went here whinning on forum and just used this "normal" pratice to attract attantion of developers that this in not "normal cause of event" and this should be somehow corrected before it wil be stay the same in final release at our home servers.

Ok. Now you can say thank you to us for this massacre that finaly was fixed by rights granting ))

We got the same reply and that alls fair in war. I do not like it but now we know its all part of the game we have to work around it.

So "Bugs" which are deemed to be fair by support are:
1) Sending a spy to another guild and using that spy to delete all defending armies in GvG (but at lest support will tell you the name of the player doing that).

2) Creating sister guild with 10 players in, attacking a sector and then removing 9 players so that single sector is a HQ with 75% bonus and has little dilution effect of the main guilds players, repeat this along your whole border and rotate troops in these guilds for trading/game play reasons and every sector has 75% defense. A truly great role for the farmers we have.

3) Creating a Sister guild with 10 players in and attack next sector, siege cost is very low and sector will pretty much always fall, add in 1 very week army and when out of defensive siege at no risk or even take over siege when defenders down to last life or just hold until main guild has enough goods to take over.

And OSX MAX - you are one of the better guilds doing both 2 and 3. But as support told us this is within the game rules and thus alls fair in war!

Any other fair "Cheats" out there

In video games, cheating can take the form of secret access codes in single-player games (such as the Konami code) which unlock a bonus for the player when entered, and add-ons or exploits which give players an unfair advantage in online multiplayer games.
Attitudes towards cheating vary. On one hand, cheating allows casual players to complete games at much-accelerated speed, which can be helpful in some cinematic or one-player games, which can take a subjectively long time to finish, as is typical of the Role-Playing Game (RPG) genre. While this may be seen as a hasty advantage, and causing no damage to anyone, in a multi-player game such as MMORPGs the repercussions of cheating are much more damaging. Cheating in those types of games is often prohibited. In many circles, the purchasing of items or currency from sources outside the game is also considered to be cheating. The Terms of Service from many games where this is possible, directly prohibits this activity.
Modern Free-to-play business models, however, support and are supported by the exchange of real-world money for in-game services, items, and advantages. Games that grant excessive advantages only available to paying customers may be criticised as being 'Pay to win', whilst games that limit real-money purchases to cosmetic changes are generally accepted.
Another form of video game cheating is when a player does things unforeseen by the programmers to permit changes to the way enemies are encountered (or objectives met). This could be through means of a "Hack" where altered game files are substituted for the normal files, or image graphics changed to permit greater visibility of the targets, etc.
Another type of cheat would be an exploit cheat where an advantage is gained through an unintended game exploit, such as skipping a weapon reload timer by quickly switching weapons back and forth without actually reloading the weapons. Generally speaking, there is often some concern that this is not truly cheating, as it is the fault of the programmers that such an exploit exists in the first place.

Read carefuly the meaning of "cheating" and you'll see that none of all these 3 forms are cheating. It is not either use of secret codes or hidden bugs or other kind hacking or exploit using of the FoE.
