Innogames managed to put me off the game. I've been playing it almost since the beginning. This new points system is completely mind-blowing. When I contact support, I'm told that going from 35,000 to 520,000 points is just a challenge, and that now there are additional bonuses. Okay but I put down half the points to finish the level, and now it's gone from 35,000 to 520,000 points. It will take me months to finish the level. I put down 15,000 points for nothing.
In the end, I'm going to give up the game.

How that is a challenge when the average player makes anywhere between 3k and 8k of FP to be collected upon that dinky little 100 FP bar? It's more like, the game will shut down before you can get your first level down in the new system, hence the un-realistic fp values.

The challenge would be for them to keep the values like with the old system and allowing the player to spend a long time to get them to 400, which probably be in a couple of years.

In the old system, almost no one managed to level up a GB to 400, not in 3-4 months, not even in 12 years. But it was never a problem, because no one even thought about level 400. One of Inno's biggest mistakes is presenting level 400 as a realistic goal. GBs have always been capped in some way, but we didn't mind and the top level wasn't the goal. The goal was the best affordable level and players told eachother whatever this was for each GB. We were happy to have the Arc at level 80 and didn't even dream of level 180 before it became affordable. It's a really stupid decision on Inno's part to give us the values for level 400 instead of useful information like the cost scale.
I think you're missing what's going on so let me take another try. People didn't level the Arc for example to lv 400 because there was no reason to do it. At lv 180 the bonus stopped and only the guild goods remained. It wasn't because people didn't think about it. There was just no reason to do it.
Then as event buildings got stronger and GB's remained the same there was no reason to build the CoA for example because they became obsolete. Then they became so obsolete that people with huge GB's deleted them.

The GB update is supposed to make investing in GB's a good return on investment. And on level 400 for most of them it's a good building. At lv 400 it can compete with event buildings inflation and power creep.

By making it impossible to get to level 400 instead of just making it hard they've made the GB's even more obsolete. I honestly don't know how anyone can defend this update.

And part of that presentation is just the fact they've reworked the costing.

If they added boosts every 100 levels, but kept the same cost leveling as the old system, no one would expect to get it done any faster than they were previously.

The problem isn't the cost, but the bonus per level or bonus per cost.
Like you say they do compete with event buildings, but event buildings don't cost fp to place. Spending two weeks of your entire city's production on one building you expect its bonus to grow by a lot, and it isn't.
Also the flat bonuses are so marginally better than event buildings that with inflation we expect all of them to be obsolete way before we get to the highest level. Again a problem of having too small increase per level.

It makes sense that the cost in fp is large. Remember when we built buildings that cost thousands of fp, when our main source of income was the 1fp hourly? It's kind of the same situation, and it didn't take lifetimes to level them, so we should not expect our future with this update to be any different.
