Discussion No Orchard of Orange Dreams for beta players

Unless I really missed something, when the 'care for tomorrow' event came out, beta players were told that Orange Dreams fragments would be issued pending the results of the event on the live servers. In the meantime, the only fragments on beta were from the Rival event which did not give enough.

On the live servers, I managed 2 orchards and even 3 on one world.

When submitted a ticket asking when Beta players could expect fragments, this was the reply:

"Thank you for contacting the Forge of Empires Support team!

Currently there is planned to be 0 Orchard fragments given out on Beta. However thank you for the feedback! We collate all feedback and suggestions received, and we will ensure that it is passed on.

I'm sorry if this was not the answer that you were hoping for, but please do not hesitate to contact me should you need further assistance!"

Did I miss something? Was there some other way to get fragments on beta? If not WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE RIVAL CHALLENGES? Greetings player, complete these challenges for fragments you will NEVER be able to use! Yours Truly Inno

The world event was the source of fragments on beta. Until the notice showed up you had to keep track yourself when you unfroze 20+ pieces and go into the world event window (beside the main event window), and collect your prize which started at 20 fragments per 20 unlocks and grew to 60 fragments as the world event level progressed. I got 3 orchards completed on beta.

Sadly, I never saw that at all first or last. I do recall seeing a notice early on that they would be given after the live event. I guess they changed it with minimal notice. Wonder how many people may have missed out

I know I missed out on at least one orange because there was no notification. I ended up getting a fat zero because I didn't collect until the last couple days. If I did and had the tools we had on live, I could have got a couple of them. And I sure did complain so that we did get them on live. Thanks for changing that one devs, but it would have been nice to get compensated on beta, it's a simple formula to generate the number of frags I would have earned on beta - a bot could do it.

I'm not really a fan of the world price. There really needs to be a different mechanic because the whole thing was just awful. If you went ahead of the world level, you collect actually less points than if you stick with the world level since each level allows access to more frags at once. I really just don't like being forced to play the game an extremely rigid way where I have to play the exact same way as everyone else. It's just a game, stop getting bent out of shape when players outsmart the devs.

The damage from rushing ahead of the world level wasn't that pronounced unless you were the extreme case of all-in on day one (which the event already discourages in other ways) - i didn't pull ahead very far til the first rival on my main, but once I had, I was ahead by multiple levels til the end and "waiting" on the world to level up before i got more credit for my work. (not really waiting, kept playing steadily, but it wasn't my progress limiting the world level).

I'm of mixed thoughts on the world event side of things: The orchard was a nice prize, but ultimately it came down to "just more free stuff" for playing the event pretty much the same as I would have anyways so I probably won't miss it if it doesn't return.

the only damage on beta was: no notification to collect the fragments
but a few players in the forum wrote you MUST always keep an eye on the counter (even if not visible during the play) to collect when reaching 20

I got 3 orchards completed on beta.
with both rivals and don't forget to collect the fragments 3 was very easy doable

I caught on early that watching for 20 unlocks was key and got 3 Orchards om Beta.

On Live it was only 2 due to decrease in workers given for the quests. I do have a few hundred fragments if it comes around again.

I'm just saying if inno said that they were going to comp us some frags for this not thought out mechanic (why not, it's beta?), it's a donger move to change their mind and not do so knowing that the effect of the game did affect a lot of players not getting the building. I was pretty close on beta to get the first one even in the last 3 days but if you were even short 1 frag it didn't matter because you couldn't build it.

I don't recall Inno ever saying they were going to comp that.

If you can find a post somewhere that says otherwise (from a InnoGames employee) - then I'll be fully onboard with agreeing on your stance.

But as I have not seen such a post, I can only assume you saw the message saying the certificate about trees would be handed out and mistakenly thought it was about compensation when it has nothing to do with compensation.

It wouldn't be unprecedented for players to be comped for something that happened on beta regardless, it's still a fair request to make because some amount of us were literally screwed over by a bad game mechanic. They did end up fixing it on live but my beta city which could have gotten the orange is still without and no way to get the frags if you were even 1 short (I was 4 short on live on getting another). Some even small offering would have been greatly appreciated.

These event buildings are paving the way to new requirements of playing the game, the eco hub getting rid of the tras and then being used by the rivals to complete tasks, you pretty much needed to get that full building to be able to less painfully play the game as the devs horribly intend. You can say you can use the tras or the new gb, but you have to keep leveling it to do those tasks which may become an impossibility the higher they go. So if it's about missing an event building, it should be in high regard to correct that error especially when it was the devs fault. Although I'd like to remind the devs that playing FOE should be FUN and not PAINFUL as it currently is.

How hard would it be, what are the devs losing by doing this? Nothing!

At first I thought something like it was said by them. Though after rereading the official announcements on the Beta forum, related to the event, I could only find it about the certificate. Where it would be handed out retroactively. Not the orange dreams building. I must've either misremembered it too, some Mandela effect. Confusing the orange dreams with the certificate.

The request in itself, at face value isn't unreasonable. However when we're looking a bit further it does makes sense for the devs to not giving in, unless they've promised (verifiably) otherwise. A beta server is a test server. That the community has adapted to the stability and openness of FoE's beta server interacting with it like a regular server doesn't change that fact. It is to be expected that frequently things go wrong on a testing server and unexpected things to occur. If the devs giving into the request and handing out orange dreams buildings to participants of the event on Beta, they're setting the expectation that they'll compensate whenever something unexpected happend. Like what happend: some players catching on too late that they're missing the collection of fragments. In the end however it's just up to the devs.

Either way, I am hoping more of these frags will be offered so I can get another building (or two, depending how much I am willing to get for).
