I really don't know what yet ANOTHER new era is going to do for this game. The new era design has little flexibility to innovate, and it's been said before - The Era to be built is nothing more than a functional clone of the one previous to it, in the same overt theme.
And that theme's core DNA harken back to FOE's Bronze Age DNA and the game's core DNA - build menu stuff, just themed to represent where we came from, and 1 possible universe where we're all going to.
This isn't going to captivate anyone, and is just an outlet for those that have invested 10 years here and can't give it up...so we drone on...
I liken the vision to, of all things, the WIZARD of OZ movie and the director's first use of new color film technology. Dorothy lived in a pretty routine world, ample examples of that was the director's use of Black and White film at the movie's onset.
That's much like where we are today, in FoE. Same old stuff, day in and day out.
But you have to make your own Tornado, and then....
You can get the color, and breathtaking vision of what new 4X gaming ideas bring to the table.
All you have to do get OUT of this black and white shell for a week, and try something new. And there is plenty to try.
Upon doing that, you'll see firsthand that FOE is still in the Stone age, and those that stay here are like Fred and Wilma Flintstone. Nice people, but.... stone age vision of gaming.
Where I'm playing now? Very cool - it's everything we've asked MTG to consider for us. So..., it's like being the Jetsons - in full color and insanely innovative gaming with all the things we're used to having.... Guilds, battles, city building, friends, teamwork and goals.
All the things we've asked them to build or consider, are DONE in other games.
If MTG doesn't want to build it and migrate their player population to it, then other people have and want the opportunity to impress and excite you.
Dorothy went back to Kansas, and her black and white world.
Not sure many want to come back to this same old, same old game day in and day out, that you started playing when it WAS innovative - (like 10 years ago).
