Forwarded Legacy Exchange: Portrait rotation (permanent availability)

Atokirina

Marquis
Reason
During Forge Friday, the ability to purchase legacy portraits was widely appreciated, because many older portraits from previous events had been impossible to obtain. Forge Friday made these portraits purchasable for the first time, and the positive reception shows that players value access to cosmetic items.

By making these portraits permanently available in rotation, the game preserves this quality-of-life improvement.
Details
• Add a permanent portrait slot (or small rotation of slots) to the Legacy Exchange.
• Rotation frequency could be 4-hourly, ..., daily, weekly, or aligned with other Exchange timers.
• Currency options:
◦ Opal Seals
◦ Diamonds
• Only legacy / retired portraits would be included.
• Discount is only applied during Forge Friday.

This system uses existing UI, shop logic and currency types, so implementation effort should remain low.
Balance
No gameplay impact: Portraits are strictly cosmetic.
Economic balance preserved: Opal Seals provide a fair grind-based path, diamonds offer a monetisation path.
Abuse Prevention
Since portraits have no gameplay effect, the risk of exploitation is non-existent.
Summary
Making legacy portraits permanently available in rotation within the Legacy Exchange offers a simple, cosmetic, and widely appreciated quality-of-life enhancement.
Have you looked to see if this has already been suggested?
Yes, I have read the DNSL and checked previous submissions so that I'm not duplicating ideas.
Dear community,

I propose to add Legacy Portraits as a permanent rotating offer within the Legacy Exchange on both Beta and live servers. These portraits would be obtainable using Opal Seals or Diamonds, following the same principle as during Forge Friday, but available year-round.

The diamond discount would apply during Forge Friday only. This preserves the unique value of Forge Friday while maintaining continuous access throughout the year.

Kind regards,

@Atokirina

If this goes into play, it'll be at least 2 or 3 years until you see that avatar as I am pretty sure Inno will have guidelines in not releasing content that is under a year old.

I am also hoping the diamond price would be reasonable as well as the opal price, and not something they dug out of their posterior in hoping that it will attract the players via some other kind of means as that ship had sailed long ago.

Worth a try. If they set pricing on a par with the other "Legacy" items they will be beyond reach anyway but they will be able to say "We listened".

Good idea finally to give players a shot to get older avatars or portraits, but the wrong way to sell them!

Rotating is fine, but 1500 diamonds:diamonds: in global servers per avatar?

When diamonds are so hard to come by these days is way too much for one avatar… U try to take advantage of player nostalgia inno? How low can you sink, really? :unhappy: are

If you had an inch of sense you would offer them cheaper and many would buy them, as it stands most will never buy a single avatar, good work another wasted chance to make money, how is it going with the revenue not so good, I wonder why?

Repeating the same mistake expecting a different result is insanity.:diamonds::diamonds:

I think can say a more fun way to get old avatars

If some can post forwards more elaborated idea of what I'm about to write please be my guest

I wish the new "Temple of Relics" be able to spawn on the city's map some arqueologics incidents, similar to the Flying Island, it could have like 1% chance to get an old avatar and for the others could be old kits
Junk? yes but your trash may be my treasure

Talking about Expedition, maybe Antiques Dealer could have a new section for the Aztec to trade/sell services "Voodoo Lodge" with a cauldron to exchange/transmulte and upgrade potions and other items using the Expedition "Coins" as payment to the services
Could have a "Gacha" service using old potions, kits and frags to reroll

I don't see any reason to object to such an idea.

Players have been asking for a way to obtain old (legacy) avatars probably for as long as avatars have been around as prizes, and they've already set the precedent years ago for the possibility to obtain old avatars.

The Legacy Store seems like the most logical place to put such things, regardless of how they are or aren't priced.

Rotating is fine, but 1500 diamonds

in global servers per avatar?

Interestingly the old Guild pictures are only 200 diamonds per pic

Your idea has my fullest support. It borders to suggestions to make a store for cosmetics (including avatars). Since there are stores now. I think it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to expand it for them into an legacy avatar store. With rotating avatars. They seem to continually looking for new ways to capitalise on the game.
The neat thing with cosmetics is that they don’t intervene into the balance. Only with the cash passes and top1% avatars. Though a good rule would be: non cash pass and top1%event avatars to automatically be added after 1 year of their introducing event. With the cash pass and top1% avatars after a 2-3 years period. By that time the prestige likely has worn off and could be offered for higher prices than for regular legacy event avatars.

Interestingly, I would take in to that price, if offered. However, I am hoping at least 3 or 4 will be offered at each rotation, so players will have options. Best would be about 5 to 10 to choose from in the store among hundreds that are in the pool to be rotated from.
If you didn't look the avatars prices in the Black Friday's shop then you don't know all the story, people are not willing to pay 1500♦ per avatar
Even I think that was absurd that I steered away from doing so. Well, didn't purchase anything in that store anyways... not that I didn't have any diamonds (as I had a few k) but wasn't going to waste 1500 as I felt that was overpriced.
l think 1000 :diamond: will be better
I am going to need the THICKEST phone book for you.

Yeah, they are doing it for all the wrong reasons. A lot of players are smart, and many of them are close to being expert appraisers to know when to keep away from Inno's/MTG's gimmicks and not give in. Me, I am saving my cash and riding this one until the very end where we get some announcement that the game is shutting down due to no revenue or player support. If and when they decide to get with the program and present something that isn't dead on arrival, maybe I will chuck a couple of bucks their way.

Same, revenue growth has slowed down and has had it peak. During the acquisition of Inno by MTG this was publicly known to be expected by their financial report post covid. Since it was common knowledge that the pandemic artificially boosted the gaming industry and a correction post covid was/is immenent.
MTG appears to me more disappointed in the decline and pushy towards the devs to turn the tide. However there are nuances going on outside the devs' power that likely impact any game's revenue negatively. It should be safe to assume MTG investors are aware of this and taking this into account a likely annual decline for the upcoming years if not persistent decline until the next decade (2030's). If there expectations are consistent growth across the board. I presume they're either naive or misguided. Anyone mildly familiar with economics knows what's going and understands without a degree in rocket science how it likely impact freemium games' revenue negatively. The bigger question is if MTG has the faith and stomach to see it through with Forge. Under the assumption revenue doesn't collapse.

Personally I just hope this proposed idea gets through and approved. Helping the game how ever little to survive another day.

Try posting your idea on the discord, even 0.1% chance is better than 0% (here).
Or ticket labeled as forum or questions with 25% chance to answer in 1 day. It never hapenned that support don't answer on my tickets if it was bug report (ascedent building had same name as normal) or question (kraken in blue provincies in GbG, 2nd slot in traven - permanent or not) or reports (not 100% sure if it was true but I think in most of reports it was true - bots, cheats..) I know reports can't have answer but it was closed in next 7 days.

All of my support tickets got a response. Maybe not the response I wanted....but even my rambling complaints got a response...
