Karloach on Iron Age Map

Just started to test the Guild vs Guild war and placed a siege on Karloach [29, 61] on the iron age map. But there are no defending armies and i am not able to attack after placing the initial siege army. Its a npc sector owned by Barkas.
So nothing seems to be happening..and the army placed as siege is gone... and i'm not able to take it. Is this a bug or a feature or whatever? Kinda disappointing for a first foray into the Guild Wars...

You shouldn't be able to place a siege on Karloach [29,61] unless you're in a guild who's sector is adjacent to it, or if it's next to a river.
There is also a bug with this sector reported here
