New Idea Improved Keyboard Shortcuts for Guild Battlegrounds

Reason
The current implementation of keyboard shortcuts in Guild Battlegrounds (GBG) has several overlapping functions that disrupt the battle flow and negatively impact the user experience. Some essential shortcuts are also missing, making the experience inconsistent and less efficient for players.
Details
The existing keyboard shortcuts in Guild Battlegrounds can lead to unintended actions due to overlapping functionality:

B Key Overlap:

Used for both displaying province/sector buildings and initiating auto-battle.
This overlap can result in accidentally brining up the province details/buildings even during the fights (i.e. before the battle result is shown)
ESC Key Overlap:

Used to confirm/close the battle result pop-up and to close the province pop-up.
However, it doesn’t work for the "Surrender" prompt, requiring players to manually click Cancel/Surrender, which breaks the flow.
A Key Overlap:

Used for both starting the battle (attack/defend) and entering a manual battle.
This can lead to players unintentionally entering manual battles wasting precious time.
R Key Overlap:

Intended to "replace units," but can occasionally trigger the "Research new technology"
The "Research" shortcut (R) should be restricted to the main city window to avoid conflicts in GBG. Please note this is very rare, it happened to me a few times over the last couple of months. I haven't been able to reproduce it today during screen capture.
Balance
There are no balance or abuse concerns with these changes, as they affect all players equally. These improvements aim solely to enhance user experience and streamline gameplay.
Abuse Prevention
There are no balance or abuse concerns with these changes, as they affect all players equally. These improvements aim solely to enhance user experience and streamline gameplay.
Summary
To improve the Guild Battlegrounds experience, the following changes and additions are suggested:

Assign unique keys for each action:

Separate keys for viewing province/sector buildings and initiating auto-battle.
Ensure the key for "Replace Units" (R) does not conflict with the "Research" screen.
Add a dedicated shortcut for reopening the last viewed province or sector pop-up.

This would be especially helpful when players accidentally close the province pop-up (wanting only to close the battle result pop-up)
Reevaluate the ESC key functionality:

Allow ESC to close the "Surrender" prompt and ensure it does not trigger conflicting actions (e.g., closing both the province pop-up and other pop-ups unintentionally).
These changes will significantly improve the flow and efficiency of battles in Guild Battlegrounds, enhancing the overall gameplay experience for PC players.
Have you looked to see if this has already been suggested?
I have read the DNSL and searched the forums for similar posts

I absolutely agree on the esc key, I haven't had any of the other issues you presented. I went full keyboard shortcut for a while, but honestly the keys are just too far apart to be able to practically use. Plus, with the updated gbg, all you really need is to set your mouse over the attack button and click "r", only two keys required one on each hand. This just adds to the fluff that honestly isn't needed anymore. It certainly doesn't engage people to force them to click multiple different keys in a certain sequence and be aware when an unexpected 2nd round popup is going to alter the sequence of clicking. I'd suggest....my idea to just combine multiple functions into one click. Why click 5 times when you could only click once?

Yeah, well, before the province popup redesign and keyboard shortcuts, you kinda learnt the button positions and premoved the mouse before the prompts even appeared (at least I did). That, i guess, could amount to some skill :). Not sure about the single click ... I mean, why not then just have auto-fight which does it all for all battles in a province, i.e. attack, refresh army, autobattle, confirm battle outcome and keep going, until you stop it (kinda like you can now auto aid FL, Guild, and the Hood)

I had that issue with the research popping up during a battle that it crashed the game and I had to refresh. Happens about 0.0125% of the time.

Then I did how @planetofthehumans2 outlined and it went out fine. A little tedious but fine.

I am only speculating the reason why Inno done this is to prevent macro based programming from being used.

That would be the great. :D I never got used to moving the mouse because I hated doing gbg because it was so annoying.

Based on Thunderdome's reply, it must be an honest glitch rather than intentional by inno. You don't exactly program a game crash in 0.01% of the time. If they wanted to do that they'd do something smarter like pop up a warning that you're going too fast.
