Fixed on Beta: HTML5 version's CPU usage is very high [46522]

Hi!

It seems that the new HTML5 version's CPU usage is at least double of the flash version's, in a lot of cases seems to be more.

System info:

I just tested this and although my values are not that drastic, CPU usage on HTML5 is about twice as much as the old flash.

Though, note the GPU usage on HTML almost 4 times larger than on old flash.

I dont know how to do the screen shots they did.
But keep getting an out of memory error, then have to reload game.

I have exactly same issue. When open foe beta tab my cpu cooler significantly speeding up. task manager in windows and one in chrome shows much higher cpu usage.
Im using windows 10 and chrome.

This is probably expected. I'm no expert, so the devs (or at least someone with more knowledge of game design than me) would have to confirm this, but as I understand it, Flash allows only minimal use of GPU hardware abilities, whereas HTML 5 can do a lot more with the GPU. This is why you'd expect CPU usage to be lower in HTML 5, not higher.

I can also confirm high CPU usage on Windows 10 with the latest version of Chrome. On my two cities on the US servers, CPU usage is moderately steady around 19 ± 3%. On Beta, CPU usage is even more stable, but higher, at 31 ± 1%.

As reported by the in-game screen, copy to clipboard function: 1.122.6d4304c42b (02.03.2018 8:32), RobinHood70 (158510), zz1, en_US, WEB 7,1,1,0, Windows 10, Chrome/64.0.3282.186, 1846x989, OpenGL Vendor=WebKit Version=WebGL 2.0 (OpenGL ES 3.0 Chromium) Renderer=WebKit WebGL GLSL=WebGL GLSL ES 3.00 (OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.0 Chromium) (512 MB VRAM)

I play on 4 worlds hope they can fix the out of memory going to suck if I can only have one tab open at a time. :(

Can anybody still confirm the problems manifesting themselves in the initially reported way?

Yes, I've just changed it back to HTML5, and I can confirm that it is still as bad as it was before.

I'm no longer playing the game, but since I was still subscribed to this issue, I logged into both versions of the game quickly and I can confirm Dexter1's report. I only did a basic CPU usage check with the Windows Task Manager, but with everything else the same, HTML5 was steady around 22% CPU usage, while Flash reported just under 10% CPU usage for the same city. (Note: I'm on a different computer than my report of a few months ago, which is why the numbers are so different.)

Like Dexter1, my GPU supports both WebGL 1 and 2 and it was clearly being used in the HTML5 version, coming in at around 60%, according to Windows.

Forcing Chrome to use my nVidia GPU instead of the integrated Intel GPU gives us better numbers for HTML5, but also an improvement in the Flash numbers.

HTML5 - CPU: 18%, GPU: 10%
Flash - CPU: 6%, GPU: 6%

I normally use html, but when I signed it I was forced to go to flash, now my game is so snail slow it's pathetic. :(

But all my others worlds on the other server are just fine. :D
