G'Day All!
I currently have an Alcatraz Level 127. To Advance to level 128 I now need 650,150 Forge Points to advance to the next level.
This means with six players (assuming you have the owner and five other players participating) donating 2,000 Forge Points per day it would require me 54 days to take it to the next level. This would grant me 1.3K in happiness and 4 additional units. This is assuming that each player can generate 2,000 Forge Points per day and that they do not want to advance in the game in any other way for the next 54 days.
I don't have many Great Buildings past 100 levels so I'm not sure how this relates to the other Great Buildings but the new cost seems quite excessive to me.
I'm sure it's quite the balancing act to do something this major, but I don't see where this increase in Forge Points cost is going to make the advancement of Great Buildings in the silver and gold tier viable.
For those who had Great Buildings above 100 levels, it makes it much more difficult to catch up to them because of this increased Forge Point cost, effectively ensuring that they will always have the upper hand going forward as 99% of the players will never be able to generate enough levels to catch up to them and be competitive.
While I think the idea of tiers was great, I don't think the Forge Point increase is going to make it desirable for players.
I think if you would have taken the Copper level, capped at level 100, and then refund all the blueprints for any levels above that level to the players. Players from 101 to 199 would receive 18 blue prints per level, players from 200 to 299 would receive 27 blueprints per level, players from 300 -399 would receive 36 blueprints per level and players from 400 to 499 would receive 45 blue prints per level. Then you use your refinery option to get those silver blueprints to build yourself back up. The older more invested players would still have the ability to jump several levels ahead of the other players quickly but there would be a chance for the others to possibly get themselves on even ground at some point in time in the future.
You could also grant the older players goods for on a similar tiered basis to get them moving forward on the on the refinery process (my Alcatraz requires 268 of each Progressive good to refine) so progressive era buildings should receive 300 of each Progressive era good for each level from 101 to 199. I don't have the time to calculate for each building and age but I hope you get the idea. The same bonus could be done for gold and supplies needed. Again, this would allow the older players to get that jump on the other players but not put them so far ahead that they would always be the dominate force.
For the size of great buildings and what they generate and how long it's now going to take to increase their benefits, I think you'll end up seeing players passing on Great Buildings (which I think would be a shame) in favor of event buildings which can provide better benefits with less hassle and that take up less space.
Great thoughts on the tier system but I ultimately think you will start the death of the Great Buildings with the increased cost.
You would have been better to just decrease the size of the Great Buildings to make them better (which I think you ought to do anyway).
Thanks for all you do to keep the game moving forward.
Have a great day!
