Discussion FoE team hates futuristic designs for event buildings.

years and years of events and all the designs of all event buildings have something similar. . . all of them are related to an old age. . . FoE team, do you know that your game has futuristic ages too? when are you going to make an event where it's building has a futuristic designs? some players here love futuristic things, you know?.

There's an obvious answer for this: They try to make event buildings that can look at home in any age. Futuristic buildings in early ages look out of place - how did those get built? Old-look buildings in futuristic ages can be viewed as just being retro :)

Yeah those Arc's in pre future ages look really fitting for medieval ages and such xd

and yeah , those old designs buildings in a futuristic era fits really good! :v
At least they fit better than futuristic buildings on early eras. You could say: "We have left this giant colossus in our city, because it looks so great", but you can't say: "Oh, we just time traveled and got this futuristic building in our village".
Also: How many players are in early eras and how many in later ones? I think most of the players are in the lower ones, so it makes more sense to create buildings for them.

You partly proved my point. We do things in the past or have things from the past. Sure it is a bit unrealistic, that we can visit egypt in saab, it is also unrealistic, that we can have an arc in bronze age. But it is not unrealistic having older buildings in your futuristic city. If we had event buildings from the future in early era cities, that would just add another unrealistic thing.

the funny thing is that I'm just trying to make everybody see that events are unfair for players who love futuristic designs, only one part of the players are happy, why no both?
I see your intend, but the way you do it is not very nice and will never lead to a factual discussion.
If I take your point, than events are unfair for players, that don't like quests, this game is also unfair for people who don't like battles, who don't like long term strategy games, who don't like turn based battles, who don't like master mind (negotiations), ...
You can't make everybody happy. And they way it currently is, more people are happy with it, because more players are in lower eras.
do you have something against that?
Until now I did not say anything about my personal opinion, but since you ask: I don't have something against futuristic event buildings. I just evaluate the pros and cons. Since you already wrote the pros, I wanted to post the cons.
or are you so unhappy with your life that the only thing you have to do is post useless and unworthy things?
Are you talking about yourself? Sorry, but this has nothing to do in a discussion. If you don't like other peoples opinion, then a forum is definitely the wrong place for you.
pff also, if we follow your stupid logic, then tell all players who are not in future age that they must delete their arcs because according to you, futuristic things doesn't fit with old things. . . so stupid your logic. .
Thanks for calling my logic stupid. Is everything you don't agree with stupid?
I already explained, that it is unrealistic and i don't want more unrealistic things in the game.
Also I would have preferred, that it would be, that you can only build a arc if you reach future era. But This change can not be done anymore sadly.

Yeah such a change to the game would have made a lot more sense prior to the Lvl 10 cap being lifted. Especially if anyone with advanced GBs couldn't add new levels until reaching the corresponding age. Now it'd just be a massive discrepancy between players if it were done

That's more like us visiting other cultures as ambassadors of our city. Ok sure in the real world we don't have a ancient egypt, but that's because we've already visited those places (and vice versa) and modernised them

I don't find it unfair, it's not like we choose the themes for any of the buildings outside of the final upgrades.

That being said. Some possible solutions:
- Have the final upgrade of some event buildings change its design based on your current age. Doesn't need to keep getting designs added. Just 1 or 2 age changes based on what we have available at the time of the buildings release.

- When a building has multiple final versions to choose from have the designs vary in what age it's based off of

There is a fair amount of anachronism in the game already, and of strange cultural influences. One can have an Indian sultan's palace, a Japanese cherry garden, an Aztec(?) Temple of Relics and a Viking runestone in an Iron age (Roman) city. Errr.... So a small amount of variety is okay. Futuristic buildings, however, would be out of place in almost every city.

A futuristic building in an Iron Age city shocks you, it seems anachronistic.
But don't you mind that we colonize Venus?
How do you write "bad excuse"?

I was going to say something but I am going to stay quiet. It has something to do with mysterious monoliths that are appearing with no explanation to it.

You dont have to go far, how did Blacksmiths manage to build a Train in BA or Iron Age?

Not going to work. How a Train (with steam engine design) would look in IA, EMA, HMA, LMA ages? Like a wagon train? A row of wooden wagons pulled by horses, oxes or mules?

Besides that, take for example buildings like the Ships, Mill of Fall, and Pagodas, they got three final designs, but for the different rewards they give. How many designs the development team would need to do for them? Right now just one for each building level and then 3 designs for the final one. Then multiple those three x how many designs to align to the cities era? The game has 18 eras released plus SA Venus coming up. if adding a new design every 3 eras the three final ships or Pagodas would need six (6) designs each or 18 graphic designs. Is worth that extra work to solve the anachronistic "problem"?

Just face it.
  • Regular buildings can be built once the related research of the building era is unlocked, those buildings will be inline with the design of the Town Hall and city's era. They stay at the city as long as the player wants them, but most of them are upgraded when the player pass to a new era and better buildings are available.
  • However, Great Buildings are usually built to stay forever at the city regardless the anachronistic look after many eras. GBs can be built at any city era provided the player have the BPs, Goods and Space required for it. No restrictions related to the era of the city vs thye era of the GB. Introducing any new restriction would be unfair and a high loss of players.
    • Not allowing a player to construct a GB of eras higher than the city era would be unfair since most players have now GBs of higher eras already built. Imagine that a player starts a new city in a world, progress to Iron Age, and try to build Castle Del Monte, but the game does not allowed since a new rule was introduced this month. However most of the neighbors have Castle Del Monte, Cathedral of Aachen and even a few of them have a Terracota Army since they built them before the new rule was released. Would be fair for the player to face his/her neighbors with only a Zeus? No.
    • What now? Remove from the cities of all the neighbors their GBs of eras above Iron Age? After all the goods and FPs invested? That would cause a riot and most players would quit FOE and go to other games. Loss of business for Inno.
  • Event Buildings are not tied to the city's era either. They can be built when the player wins them (and the upgrades if applicable) during the event, or get them at the Auction Dealer (if available). Add multiiple designs to match the city era's? That is just adding extra work to the development team and at the end it will not solve the "problem". Take the Santa Workshop for one example, which look to give to that building for eras before St Nicholas was born? When the japanese developed the knowledge and art of pagodas of 7 stories high? What design give to Pagodas of eras before that? and my favorite: What look would have a Winter Train in BA, Iron Age, EMA, HMA, LMA etc when no steam engine technology was available? How would the Blacksmiths build a train without that knowledge and the machinery to build the parts for a steam engine train?

I'm not saying change any buildings that are already released. I'm saying for brand new event buildings that haven't been designed yet and only for the very occasional building.

Like you said, not every event has a choice between final designs. So not every event has to age up with the player either. And also as I suggested, it doesn't need to be for every age or ever get updated when new ages come out. It just needs to have a couple design changes based on what's available now. A single change in modern and a single change in future would be fine.

I wish we had some event buildings that look more appropriate in a future-age city as well. It's a shame the highest they seem to go is around the industrial age. I think that's their intent, though - they even removed the futuristic look for the Friends' Tavern for an undisclosed reason which seems to indicate that they don't want any 'ageless' building to have an appearance above this age.

Real cities have many architectural designs (old and new/current, classical, eclectic, gothic, contemporary, even futuristic) all over them, not just one. Visit any city that has more than 500 years old and you may find districts with historical sites with buildings from centuries ago, and not far from there you can found buildings with all current architectural design and technology in the same city.
Example: City: San Juan, Puerto Rico:
  • Old San Juan district: National Historical Site with buildings preserved from the time Spain conquered and colonized the island. Buildings from the 1500 - 1700 are found including the San Felipe del Morro Castle, (usually known just as El Morro) military fort whicj its construction started on 1539.
  • Condado is an oceanfront, tree-lined, pedestrian-oriented upper middle to upper class community in Santurce. It is one of the forty subbarrios of this barrio of San Juan, Puerto Rico. This area is full of hotels, casinos, condominiums, restaurants, shops, etc, as any high class urban area (with 20th and 21th century architecture).
  • Hato Rey: Is a district of San Juan that has a mix of tall buildings hosting the headquarters of major banks, corporations, state and federal government agencies, Federal Court, largest shopping center in the Caribbean (Plaza Las Americas), restaurants, local business, and middle and low class residential areas.
Old San Juan and Condado are just a few minutes apart, you may say there are at walking distance.

Also, even at a smaller scale... instead of a city, consider an old university... there you can find buildings built centuries ago along with current century buildings on the same university campus.
Example: Yale University:
