Discussion FoE fails at how to present rewards

Foe is unique among similar games in that when you collect your stuff or get a reward you get a super annoying popup that locks your game until you have acknowledged it.
In other games I've played the rewards only feel great as they do not get in the way of what you are trying to do. Rewards should always feel good, get this dopamine rush. This is why we play the games. They should not cause frustration and anger.

For example:
-When collecting a city any fragment or item you collect get a popup preventing you from collecting buildings until you click for the popup to go away.
-Every incident get a popup preventing you from collecting other incidents.
-In battlegrounds you'll get a popup preventing you from finding your rhythm as this is random and also preventing you from getting to the next battle until you have acknowledged it.
-If you have himeji castle you get a popup from any fight anywhere randomly if it triggers a reward.

How to fix:
Just lose the popup. Present the reward as a sprite jumping up. Coat it in glitter and sparks if you want, but don't force us to pause everything until we have acknowledged that we got some supplies or a fragment.
I think the team understood this at the beginning, because if I collect a hut I do not get my screen locked by a popup, but can continue collecting my other huts and my hunter's cabins while still getting informed about what rewards I got. At some point they forgot about this design philosophy and just put every new reward type in a popup.

I don't think that is the biggest problem right now. Actually i think it's good to see what rewards you collect with all the fragments stuff and other things. And besides how would we know what blueprints we get from the autumn vineyard for example? You are simply complaining because you are delayed for 1 or 2 seconds which is so lame when there are so many other things to fix like buffing the GBs or balancing GBG or even the GE rewards which are pretty ****ty at lv5.

No, I am complaining because rewards are a key aspect of games, and they should bring good feelings, not bad ones.
As for your blueprints you must be among the <1% of players that actually check that every day.

Clearly you are not a very active player. That 1-2 seconds get multiplied a lot.
If every building in your city is a special building and nowadays we have 300+ buildings you can imagine how many popups that produces, unless you do a premium collection.
If we are fighting 500 gbg fights per day and there's a 50% chance to get a reward that is also a lot of extra clicks.

Game balance is a different issue, however: Buffing the GBs have been announced. GBG rewards have already been buffed recently. The GE reward "forgotten temple" is the strongest building in the entire game. Clearly they are active in buffing things.

I like the popups for the fact that I have a BG and the game is notoriously ridiculous to misclick something you did not intend to get double that amount, so the popup tells me when a horrendous error has occured so I can course correct on that. If there is some way to mandate what the BG collects on then sure get rid of the popup, but inno doesn't do things to make the game easier for players.

I like the popup for collect all. I just like seeing it. It would be great if inno took the approach of another application and told us how much of what we're generating from our buildings every 24 hours (and the potential of the bg). A graph of how many goods we possess with time...

Now the popup in GE telling me how much whatever nonsense that doesn't even matter points I earned should go away. There was an idea to get rid of that recently? Would seriously help the game.

Maybe pushing the popup for battle rewards to when you get back to your city? I sure don't need them in the middle of a race that's for sure.

I also absolutely HATE that you only get one chance to see the new items in your inventory, for me multiple pages, that all gets erased when you click out of it or craft one item or use one item. On mobile any new frags get erased instantly because it pops up your main inventory first which doesn't include the frags. Infuriating. 20 pages of inventory items and no way to manage it. It doesn't even put the frags that you can craft to the top of the list anymore, you have to click page after page or scroll and hope you find the one item to see if you can craft it yet.

I need the popups for blueprints, goods, units, rush items, buildings etc,

If not given through popups, I need my activity window with new tab to tell me what I collect per day in city through which buildings/incidents and from which (GE/GBG/QI/CM/PvP/CT/AT/OT/Quests) area in the game. I don't mind if they reset this new tab daily.

You don't get a popup if it is a building that doesn't generate one, eg a pumpkin. And like I said there are ways to be informed about what you just clicked without it locking your game. I don't understand why you want your game to get locked.

Game locked?
GB timer or any building timer getting stopped for popup appearing means definitely game locked, but it was not. It is just informing the player what they collected from the building before they try to collect from another building.

Everyone knows that popups are annoying including the dev teams too, but they cannot hide or remove it. The current behaviour is the simplest way for everyone and any other approach leads to unnecessary load in tracking the rewards of each building when they are collected.

They gave us one compromising choice called "collect all" which player needs to spend very minimal amount of :diamonds: in the game. This is for city buildings collection.

Other rewards popups scenario like GE/GBG etc., doesn't have single bulk collection. Big discussion happened for these popups in the beta/en/us forum itself AFAIK, but still no satisfying solution for it.

Matt, the Product Head, addressed this in his update:

We've also started enhancing the user experience. The first improvement was the "assemble all" function in the inventory. We're now working on streamlining the process of collecting multiple generic rewards, which I find particularly frustrating. Upcoming updates will also include improvements to army management, which will undergo A/B testing to ensure they don't negatively affect gameplay. Moreover, we're planning to introduce a flat building mode in the coming months. All these changes are aimed at improving the overall feel of the game and reducing the number of frustrating tasks.

No one can keep track of rewards even with the popup. If you have 48 fragments and you get another 12 you are never going to know when you have 150+ and can make the item, because you have another 50 different fragment types going at the same time. The human brain is not capable of keeping track of that.

Having a "reward fountain" is a much better alternative. If you want to know what you got, look at what is spewing out of the fountain. Other games have figured it out, just steal the idea from them. If there's a particularly rare reward, like getting diamonds in battlegrounds, you can have it in legendary sparkling colors, but it doesn't have to be a popup that you have to close manually.

Keeping track of every item in the game is not only impossible, it's also unnecessary. Units, boosts, fragments, blueprints, all have trackers elsewhere. You don't have to pay this much attention to know that you got 30 more units to use or another blueprint for your zeus. Very few items are both urgent and just on the limit and not a regular income. Like I can understand if you are waiting for a store building kit, but you know that your buildings are going to produce some fragments every day. There's no need to be told that by a popup.

This is great news!

Need is there, for some building by default fragment(s) didn't get produced. It needs to be motivated. So, popup will intimate you that you get fragments because of motivation and collected perfectly.

Now you tell me, you don't need popup okay, but which buildings will give fragments and other resources without motivation. We can argue like, who on earth will do collection without motivating, but what if they do it. They don't get anything on some building if it's not motivated. Best example, I can think of is, key master workshop. Like that so many are there. When that building ready to be collected, it gives the feel of multiple rewards available like box icon appears on top of it, if it is not motivated, poof....nothing gets collected and box gets destroyed or opened then disappeared. So here, no popups from motivated building collection and not motivated building collection looks the same. How to differentiate it, okay, answer is inventory gets indication mark. But what if it is already highlighted and how do you know recent collection gives the reward or not. Lot of ifs and buts needs to be answered here unnecessarily by removing popups.

You can claim only that popups are annoying, but you cannot completely expect to remove the popups on few buildings and in few places of the game until some new approach brought for it.

Ok dude chill. Just because i don't mind the pop ups how do you asssume i am not an active player. In fact i am an active player for more than 7 years and yes i actually want to check what blueprints i get.
And besides the forgotten temple and the few diamonds do you actually enjoy 80% of the GE rewards, because most of them are outdated or pure garbage that not even Iron age players would build.
