Duplicate: Flashing Mail Icon

The mail icon flashes when there is no new mail. Checking your mail (nothing new there) stops the flashing, but perform any kind of function and it starts back up again.

I can confirm this, seems some bugs never die, they just hibernate for a little while, lol.
