I can't speak 100% on these yet as I skipped them on beta and they're not on live yet (just finished the first rival on one world, working on it on others for fall), but nothing I've seen of them *requires* diamonds. They may require a lot of spoons (fall) or wasting event currency (this one), but you can make choices to do those things without diamonds - i.e. in fall saving the questline that rewards many spoons for when rivals are running. in this one, not grinding for extra grand prizes or opening chests for escutcheons. But then the last two events the same second rival was set to require diamond spending to complete (or luck for Fall). So what is the point?

I don't see a particular problem that rivals may warp the event strategy for those who decide to care about them - so long as completing rivals is not required for "normal" event play.
Some recurring quests have a negotiation optionRival: how negotiation when GEX is done and Battle ground not startet?
I've seen that a little with the 6* in the first rival, but it is still just spoons. Particularly using your golden spoons for those tasks seems like a good answer - power through a bunch of boards. What's the 6* count needed in the 2nd rival? For the first rival in fall event, that was possible without diamonds.
The second it wasn't, in beta, unless you got lucky. And this include using half the quest unlocked that give wooden spoon (8 from quests and all those available as grand prizes). The issue (on beta) was the too high count on the 6* chest task.
Reminder: 6* has changed from 15 tiles to 20 in this event. That is over 20% of the entire borad. And if you remove that many tile for each chest the count becomes really important. If it's too high you are forced to use multiple spoon and the chance of getting a board where the colour you were working on isn't present increase to almost certain.
Didn't this one also have "or" for fights in each of those tasks? I agree negotiating without losing will sometimes cost a *little* diamondsIn this rival on beta, the issue are the negotiation without loosing. You can use the tavern and GE to have 4 attempt, but if you guess wrong, you have to use a 10 diamonds to avoid breaking the streak. It's not a lot of diamonds, but you have to pay or break the streak. Because in most era you have only GE to do the negotiaiton in you cannot try again without limit and the higher you get the more chance you have of needing diamonds (GbG is not on, and the chance there is even worst).
We will probably get the diamond back from GE4.
The second on beta had 5 chest with 6* in quest 28 AND 6 chest with 6* in quest 30. BUT the version we got on live is completely different in the first one, so I have no idea what they kept and what they didn't.I've seen that a little with the 6* in the first rival, but it is still just spoons. Well that's not *totally* outlandish - can keep that to GE with the 4-turn buff and *probably* not cost diamonds (though the backup would best be "fine i'll pay the 10 diamonds, i'm not starting over")For the Rival currently in beta, there is no OR option. you HAVE to do negotiation without loosing: 6 (Q7) + 8 (Q15) + 10 (Q23) + 12 (Q31).
But all those quest do have an AND condition, so you also have to do some tasks in the city.
Just to make it more interesting. /s
I see it as a player decision. I had the gems to do Rivals but I didn't like the nego/no lose/no autocomplete quests at all, you could get stuck and not finish. Also, the recruit previous era units, I don't have a Traz and I am not going to store/build/collect (collect a few times, it was 5 and 10 units). So for me, it was more of what I had to do, uproot my city for an ally and some buildings. Now, I just had a chest collection, ascended royal carriage, knights pavilion selection kit (units for me), and the main prize, estate.for the 17th time, I didn't see the need to open all 6 chests at least once, so I spent the currency on an opponent with the prizes I needed...
I think that is called, extortion...lolWell that's not *totally* outlandish - can keep that to GE with the 4-turn buff and *probably* not cost diamonds (though the backup would best be "fine i'll pay the 10 diamonds, i'm not starting over")
not in HMASome recurring quests have a negotiation option
Well there is that for sure. In the current state of allies, I would not consider them enough of a reason to do a rival. And in the current state of the building, I would not consider it worth building, because of allies.I see it as a player decision. so there is no right or wrong answer but one thing is for sure, this round of rivals, if you lost a last nego a few times in GE, you can run out, not complete and have 800/1000 fragments.
hopefully you did well.
How does one do negotiations outside of GE? I finished all of GE and rival quest wants 10 negos completed. How can I do this?and even worse: it is: all negotiations not expedition negotiations
so completing expedtion doesn't auto-complete
GbG is it was open. It is not open. How does one do negotiations outside of GE? I finished all of GE and rival quest wants 10 negos completed. How can I do this?
thanks I was afraid that would be the answer. I'm in Progressive era, there are no negos in recurring quests. Fighting on the SAAB map, not really feasible to find Saab goods for nego on the map from PE plus I never spend advance era goods for map nego - that is a horrible idea. Guess I'm just out of luck -GbG is it was open. It is not open.

Guild mate tried map - she claims it didn't give any credits towards rival. She also wrote support who told her she did GE too fast and that if she had done GE only for rival there would be enough engagements to complete rival. >>> Hogwash is my response. I'm not stupid enough to continue this nonsense. It is bad enough that all the percentages and game play is rigged but to add a trick for rival is beyond belief. It is not the kind of game I want to play. I can get this kind of abuse from my local casino and they give me free drinks. I get nothing here. There is no sense of accomplishment. No challenge. What's extra bizarre is the issue of no more GE engagements can't be fixed with diamonds - the only thing inno cares about. Double stupidity.GbG is it was open. It is not open.
