An "or" option is indeed great... If I didn't want to scout a new continent it'd be my choice and I'd be fine with that. What the complaint is actually about is that it doesn't auto-complete when the primary objective has already been completed and is impossible to repeat.

Even if the 'or' option were to be introduced, I doubt these type of quests would auto complete just because a player had already done all the map provinces for example.
My previous points about balance of a mechanic like this is that no matter what level of progression, a player should have to do something to complete the quest. I don't think that just because a player had already met 1 of the requirements before accepting a quest like this, that it should auto complete. The only reason the auto completed up till now is because there was no alternative requirement.

Maybe; in the other hand you should consider that devs might want to use the events to help/encourage player to progress in the game (events are not mandatory, though).

imho if the text says "do this OR that", the quest must autocomplete if one of the requirements is met; if the intended behavior is the one you stated above (always do something) devs have to improve the UI, changing the syntax or better prompting the quest "do this or that" if none was previously done, prompt only the one available if one is autocompleted.

I am happy to see that on the live servers an alternative is given for the anniversary event.
Thank you :)

So, I just looked at the quest list and I just *HAVE* to complain

I'm utterly annoyed that these guys STILL haven't understood that WE CANNOT HAVE MISSIONS REGARDING PROVINCES EVERY NOW AND THEN!!!!! Events are way too frequent and they always ask us to scout and then conquer a province. First of all, it's very hard when you do this in this order! They should make it so the missions are the other way around. Secondly, these missions absolutely RUINS the meaning of the event. Events just aren't fun like this. I'm sick and tired of rushing and running all over the place looking for ways to pass these missions. It's just not fun! Once an event starts at the wrong time, when you JUST entered a next continent, you won't be able to fight. You will HAVE to negotiate, thus ruining the experience for the player. You ruin both the story AND you don't get to use your army. I honestly cannot stress this enough! Possible solutions would be to find alternatives for these missions e.g. Acquire a province OR win X battles (that could mean anything. It could be a battle with a neighbor or on the map or in the expedition, so it's much better!) and Scout a province OR unlock a technology. Or you could just reverse the order of the two missions. Because you should FIRST conquer a province and THEN explore a new one (this makes us only acquire ONE province, whereas the current system makes us acquire TWO!!!) At this point, the only reason these missions exist is to make us buy diamonds for the provinces...

EDIT: Hmmm... Seems like this was already mentioned before here. Well, I still wanted to express my opinion about the topic :D:cool:

It is not realistic to expect feedback from a new event on Beta, especially feedback on changing the event mechanics, to be immediately implemented. At best the feedback would be considered for future events.
....
None of this means that feedback is not considered, or that the ideas are being dismissed. It's simply a reality of the way the process works.
We are not expecting that something will be implemented before a new event goes live. But we are disappointed about that fact, that we (beta users) are complaining about same things like dead GVG map, useless AF goods, bad GE rewards or repeated boring events, which are just cloned every 2 weeks - and nobody cares about that. Feedbacks to such kind of topics are about 6 month old, but nothing was changed - neither on the next event, nor many month later. That's why it seems like Inno is just ignoring our feedback and uses beta forum only to test some new stuff, because they don't want to pay for employing qualified testers.

In most of my worlds now I *only* progress during events... I ignore the maps/world otherwise, as I can't be sure that some event quest won't cause a massive inconvenience if I'm already making my way through the map. (In a recent event I was forced to scout 3 provinces owing to various scout/infiltrate/conquer quests, which meant I had to fully conquer 2 of them *during* the quest just to be *able* to scout.)

I agree with a lot of the other feedback. I won't do the May Day event on the live servers as long as I'm forced to research a tech. Give us some other options, 30 FP or something. Don't force us to advanced to a new age if we don't want to. The Maypole rewards aren't worth it.

Hi, could someone post the stats of the Majestic Maypole in OF ? Would be very kind !

Here's what people on live are saying about this event:
  • all that for a happiness building, not even I would want
  • "research a technology". Unless there are no other events before the casino, I'm out. I don't want to miss out on a better event building later because I refuse to jump to AF until the casino.
  • im with u on this one ~ Maypole is for pretty city peeps
  • im just trying to go through the quests, not worried about the may pole, just hit 61 diamonds off of the 2nd quest
  • Yeah im contemplating the whole research a tech myself. as that would have me jump to AF and then all my buildings produce useless goods for the treasury.
  • Glad I laid off doing all of the research 6 ages ago, only did the required ones. It is the explore and take over province quests that I hate.
  • i hate when they want us to research a technology.
  • everyone hates that but they keep doing it - must be good for their diamond sales for people to keep moving forward

I'll keep hoping that the recommendation of Zarok Dai will ultimately mean something to the devs when it comes to the "or" matter in quests.
As I recall Zarok explained that quests are usually not changed last minute but may be subject to change in future events.
It makes sort of sense they did change it on the live servers for their 5-th anniversary: it would be bitter if people couldn't participate particularly in that event.
The Maypole is cute but I can do without I keep the small one we instantly received.
But as soon as the third task came up my guild members threw the towel.
It starts to be a principal matter for them.

I just ran into an unfortunate combination of quest requirements vs world map progress point:

- End of main quest line: Take a province. Done. This finished the PE map for me.
- Early in the daily quest line: Infiltrate 5 sectors. OK.. so first I have to Scout to the new ME map.
- Then I had to scout a second time to open the first province.
- Ummm, it only has 4 sectors. I had to infiltrate all four and then scout a THIRD time for this single quest (4th time overall for the May Day Event) to unlock another province so I could infiltrate a 5th time.

Perhaps if these quests were coded in such a way that they'd accept either Infiltrate x sectors *OR* all sectors in a just scouted province?

Had a similar problem myself... Thankfully it wasn't in the OFE map, because that needs nearly 4 days for each scout mission.

Guys, sorry if I only intervene right now but I just remembered. In the world there is shortage of supplies and surplus of coins. So I would suggest changing the "May pole" bonus to boost supplies, instead of coins
