expired session

Hello,
from time to time I happen to not be in front of my screen, I do this several times a day and I just missed 2 minutes and I had a message that my session has expired, I would like to know what is it related? Because I know that when I open twice the same world I have a message explaining to me that I have opened the same world etc ...
So for summary, expired session means what? Is another player connecting to my account?
