Exciting Changes For Beta Server - A Chance To Earn Some Diamonds!

Sovereign

Inhouse Community Manager
Hello Kings and Queens,

In an effort to maximize the usefulness of the Beta server, we have decided to implement a new system for rewarding our testers here on the Beta server. We are going to introduce to the server a system for testing specific features with every update. This will come in the form of missions and these missions will give you the opportunity to earn yourself Diamonds for reporting the bugs you find.

How Will It Work?

With the release of 1.06, we have released 2 missions for you to complete. These missions will be intended to test a specific task or tasks. A thread will be opened on these forums, one for each mission. Players will then post the results of their missions in to the thread, as well as the name and server they want their gold to be paid to (yes, thats right... we will reward you on your play world if you wish).

Each mission will have specific requirements to qualify for payment. Simply stating you have tested a feature will not be sufficient, we will be looking for specific feedback. Below is a list of how we will decide eliability for reward:

Each post for reporting a bug must contain:
  • Summary of the issue (title of the post)
  • Overview of the bug (description):
  • Steps to reproduce:
  • Reproduction rate (Every time? Sometimes?):
  • Browser and Version:
  • Visual Reference if available:
  • I have performed a quick search of the forums using a select few keywords relating to my bug to see if it has already been reported:
  • Player name/world for rewards:

Each mission will have a specific time period for you to submit bugs in. Bugs reported outside of the time slot will not be eligible for payment. Below is an idea of the criteria we will use to determine if a post is eligible for payment:

  • The post is an issue report (not a comment, discussion or other)
  • The post is using the template
  • The issue is not a duplicate from within the bug forum
  • The issue is related to the mission
  • The issue is a valid defect and not by design (e.g. user problem)

For every bug reported and accepted as eligible for reward, the reporter will earn themselves 40 diamonds. This reward can be claimed multiple times, so if you report 3 bugs, you earn yourself 120 diamonds! The rewards will be distributed the week after the update is applied here on the beta.

Version 1.06 Missions:

1.06 brings us the long awaited Progessive Era. For our missions, we want players to test the new units, and PE buildings.

Buildings:

Click here to access Saturday's mission thread

This mission will be open from 12:00 and 23:59 (Server time) on Saturday. Posts made outside of this time will be ineligible for reward.

The Progressive Era brings many new buildings, but one specific new element is 2x2 roads. We need players to test functionality ingame moving and placing a mixture of PE and other buildings once you reach the PE. Ensuring that buildings correctly connect as they should do. We will also need the to test to make sure that the costs associated with PE buildings correctly deduct (and refund if sold). We need to test to ensure that trading PE goods functions correctly in all aspects of the game. Lastly, we will need users to ensure that the animations associated with buildings function correctly.

Units:

This mission will be open from 12:00 and 23:59 (Server time) on Sunday. Posts made outside of this time will be ineligible for reward.

In this mission, we would like you to focus your energy on testing the new Progressive Era units. Specifically, we are looking to determine if their stats balance in combat and if any additional bonuses are applied correctly. We also need users to test the graphics and animations in battle, as well as any movement modifiers due to terrain changes in battle. Lastly, we will be looking to determine if the AI units behave correctly (eg. ranged units don't move intentionally in to range). A mixture of Progressive Era and previous age units being tested together would be ideal, also.

We're looking forward to working with you all, and looking forward to being able to reward our testers for their dedication.

The Beta Team.
