Dislike the 3 eras, it is now too confusing and uses way more time that the pervious iron age. I was just start to perfect my strategy for QI, Once the Middle ages came out I stumbled and now only toy with it a few days a week. QI feel like a term paper i need to finish on a deadline every two weeks. It is not relaxing but a constant source of stress. The downside to QI is if I don't show up twice a day by the last few days I can't even play. I don't have enough alloy to make decorations and my army isn't strong enough to fight. QI is a commitment to show up twice a day for 11 days.
The commitment alone is bad enough but then there is the extra time to figure out a new more complex strategy. I hate shuffling up and down thru the 3 eras of builds to try to see what each does. Why are that out of order? Did someone think , hey we'll add some fun complexity by posting the buildings in a weird order? Having to navigate stuff like this isn't fun, I don't feel like I know a secret or have an advantage, it just makes me irritated to deal with. The interface is poorly designed with no regard for the user. I want to see all the building at once, not have to switch thru 3 tiny screens. I want a calculator that shows me what the output of my city will be if I add a 20% building or one with no boost but a higher output. I don't like guessing in a strategy game but it is far too time consuming to manually calculate so I guess and I'm irritated because I guessed.
Battles: The game takes an extreme amount of time, having to manual battle sucks, the way the AI battle computer was changed to be a suicide attack is so unrealistic it took all the fun out of manual battles. Once you don't have enough strength there is no way to hide and snipe the attackers as they are all on a suicide mission for a single troop kill. I watch how the AI computer moves my troops and throw-up every time I see it make as many poor moves as possible. The only thing it could do worse is not try to kill anything. How many people go and kill rogues first? that's what the AI does with my troops, If there are two rogues and 1 other enemy unit, it will hit the rogues first and then have to fight 3 troops. A fight I can easily win with no troop losses turns into losing 1 troop because of the stupidity of the AI autobatle. Inno must be hoping that the amount of time to save one troop is worth less to me than spending some diamonds to get to where I need to be in QI. As a result I feel cheated out of my time or coin by another dirty trick. The sum total of all the game's dirty tricks weighs on me to the point I don't want to play. Why does there need to be tricks to take our money? I'm happy to pay, I'm not happy to be considered a sucker. Why isn't the refresh troops and fast keystroke battles implemented in QI? Why do I have to manually shuffle troops for the next battle and why is that when my QA is nearing the last battle the fights are suddenly easier? Random to Inno means biased toward Inno at every possible place.
(PS: please don't try to tell me that is how statistics works and that I don't know. I've played long enough to know and seen enough of it to just laugh. There is no way to prove it because they is no way to get a large enough sample. Guess who knows that and guess who uses that to their advantage. Dirty Trick +10)
Sadly, I've had to pull back my efforts in my Beta city to have a real life and keep my main city in the game. If the time to play competitively continues to escalate, I'll just have to quit. It is a poor business decision to not work on making interface changes to save players time. Doesn't it make sense that the faster they can play the more they end up spending. Once I have no more time I can NOT spend regardless of how great the rewards are.
