so tired of getting messages ,for game info that i need but am directed to join discord .
have sent in tickets on it, posted here ,an posted in live forums, no help at all .
some one please send this to were it needs to go ,i don't want discord .but do want info for the game .

Everything on my server is so toxic I definitely don't want to be in the same discord server as other guilds, considering in discord you can DM anyone you share a server with. I get enough filth in my DMs in games, it's taken me 5 years to build up my ignore list. I think it's irresponsible of inno to be pushing people to discord, and incompatible with your aggressive in-game moderation. I can't wait for someone to start spreading viruses to all your users with fake executables that claim to give them diamonds, steal their accounts and then have them deleted. (This isn't a threat, I won't do that, but seriously most of your playerbase is retired, not very computer savvy, open your eyes to the inevitability). FWIW I love discord and my guild's discord is very active, and we often invite other guilds in when we are allied with them.

You can very simple disable DMs so no one can message you without your approval, or prior of sending you a friend request.
You can literally do everything you want with discord so you can feel safe, you can either ignore various channels and focus only on InnoGames announcements regarding beta updates and events, you can even disable tags, so you won't see or hear the tags of the spammers or people that are toxic to you.
It is that simple, yet, people refuse to take the change and move to something better and keep crying about a old, bad and broken platform as this xenforo forum is.

It is such a toxic mentality to wish a server viruses or spammers ...
There are mods there, ping them and with one click all those spammers are gone, like they never existed.
It is people fault If they access those links and trust everything that is shared there, not FoEs fault.
And you don't even need to be a tech savvy or whatever, the interface is simple for everyone.

Discord is far better, just adapt its settings for your needs, you don't even have to use your ingame nickname there so your toxic ingame server players won't know who you are, you don't even need to create the account with your main emails, just use a random created email and a password for discord account If you don't trust the platform.
Just keep the app for announcements, or even join other FoE communities servers to ask for help, see guides, and even more ...

The reason I do not use discord is because my computer crashes EVERY time I let it go into sleep mode while discord is open. I do use some other discord servers but only for short period of time.

The reason I do not use Inno official discord at all is because it's a mess. I might be able to find what I need but the effort is not worth it.
On smaller server it is easy t block the few users that are just blabing away, as is on this forum. On the official one there is too much noise that hide the actual important information and too many noise makers. Moderators cannot help if what players are speaking about is unimportant.

BTW I actually like that in the forum you can see who is the player. I think it's nice. And it avoid part of the issue that annonimity causes on the internet. Your identity is still not disclosed, but your IN GAME persona is.

Not necessarily. When setting up a Forum account it is possible to select a user name different from the in-game player name. Also, if a player changes their in-game name the Forum name remains the same as it was prior to the name change.

You can always use the discord browser variant, so no app involved.
And your computer chrashing due to discord is a bit too much, obviously is something else that crashes your computer while having discord opened and triggers it while on sleep mode, never heard or had issues like that with it since 2016.

Regarding the other aspects, yes, some info into the discussion channels might get lost because of many chats, but the announcements, bugs, feedback, are easy to track and find, since those are in separate channels on their discord.
Had no issues with finding what I needed, and what didnt interested me, I just muted, stopped the tagging so they don't bother me.
Not sure what mess you found there, but everything is pretty clear and easy to find.

Again, searching excuses for not using discord is not something that will help players, Inno intention is clear, forum is going to be removed at one point, they don't even focus that much on it, and that can be seen already indiferently on what they are saying about not going to ditch it, at least not for now.

I do use the browser version. That is the one that crashes my computer. It's obviously a combination of condition on MY computer and inneficiency on Discord side. Keep in mind that many developers use common libraries, but those common libraries are not always fully tested for concurrent usage by different application.

While announcement are easy to follow, bugs aren't.
Non official information is also very difficult to locate on discord. Example: quest list for rival.

Discord is a good application for chatting. It works for announcements. It doesn't work very well for sharing and retaining information not produced by the server owner and his employee/collaborators. A forum is much better for that.

Inno can close the forum if they wish. Knowing that part of the people that provide feedback will just stop providing such feedback to Inno.
I don't need to use the forum to collect and share the Rival quests. I can do it elsewhere (I already collect it elsewhere). but then Inno will now be part of the discussion and will not be able to see it (Jaber can probably see it, but I don't know if he has an effective channel to share back information circulating outside the official channels).

seriously why try to combat everyone here that clearly doesn't want to use discord with your half truths and attempts at logic that ignore the underlying points of the people you're responding to and simply just show us your preference and attempt to further impose it on us?

the point here is that inno is shoving discord down our throats with weekly in-game messages that open up in to a discord invitation. That is highly inappropriate and rude behavior. As another poster said, there was one a week or so ago where we literally either had to join discord or open a support ticket to have someone send us the content - which literally just ended up being a URL to a wiki so that's really ridiculous.

At this point no active player that hasn't joined the FOE official discord server has not joined from lack of knowledge. We've all stated reasons we don't want it. You aren't inno, your counterpoints are irrelevant to us. I run a well maintained FOE based discord server as my original message said, so clearly I'm already aware of all your oooo but you don't have to /nick your game name etc rebuttals. Your messages read like a religious apologist trying to defend their fake sentient sky ghost. Go ahead and ignore the parts of this message that make your next reply inconvenient!

Take a look at player participation on the Forums and compare it with participation on the FOE Discord. Like it, or not, Discord is much more popular.
