You'd have to have a level 201 AO to get 50% critical hit damage. My level 101 AO only gives 30.6%.Only works against units of the same age. For example when using Arctic future units against arctic future units, it gives a chance to deal 50% additional damage. For example when attacking an battle fortress with plasma artillery you can deal 3 damage but if critical hit kicks in this'll be 3 dmg * 1,5 = 5 damage. If you're using for example an hover tank (future era) or a turturret there's 0% chance to deal extra damage against a battle fortress. Just use units of the same age as the units you want to defeat and AO gives a chance to deal 50% extra damage
I doubt it. When the AO was first introduced the crit hit applied on units of different eras but that was changed in a later balancing. As I understand it, the change to current era only units being affected was a directly related to just how powerful the Hovers were. It wasn't until after AF was introduced that it became evident that the Hovers could beat anything that AF had in store. (My trusty Hovers carried me all the way into SAM and even into some fights in SAAB on auto-battle. Who knows how far I could have gone if I was a manual battler?) To my knowledge you were never able to get crit hit by battling higher era units but I was nowhere near AF when the change occured so unsure based on personal experience.seems like it should work if you are using lower era troops than you are fighting. Maybe they will make that change.
You're confusing the chance to deal additional dmg with the extra dmg AO can deal. The AO has a flat +50% dmg multiplier and offers X% chance to deal that extra dmg. @lvl201 it's 50% chance to deal +50% dmg. In your case it's 30,8% chance to deal +50% dmg. Naturally this chance only applies when using units of the same age of the hostile unitsYou'd have to have a level 201 AO to get 50% critical hit damage. My level 101 AO only gives 30.6%.
