Battle Blue Dots

When attacking either in GE or PvP sometimes the defending Troops have little blue squares on their lifelines. Not always but I've seen it occasionally in both types of battles. What do the Blue life dots mean? I cannot seem to find any info on this anywhere but perhaps I'm not looking in the correct place.

These are not my units they are the opposing units. I attacked with my units and these were the GE Defending units or the defending city;s units - I've seen them in both places and these are regular units not friendly ones.

It doesn't matter whose units they are. If that army (whether yours or the enemy's) has a Drummer in it, then all units that are in that army will have the +1 armor/health.
